I haven't been able to post as much in the last few months, but I've been quietly surprised at the hate/apathy McTominay has received, particularly over his new contract. Showed again (at barely 22) that he's not just a neat and tidy player. Some really nice touches & decisions mixed in with the hard yards. Yeah, Fergie always had a few players like him in the squad and they proved vital more often than not. Very happy he's there to play a role when asked and he does it so well too. Not to mention, he's a bloody good lad. No harm in having people like him at the club.

I'm not his greatest admirer (yet...) but I agree with an earlier comment that this was his best performance to date.

Scott's numbers last night :
100% aerials won | 84% passing accuracy | 66 touches | 46 passes completed | 24 forward passes | 12 duels won | 6 aerials won |5 free kicks won | 3 clearances | 2 recoveries
Bloody good showing if you ask me.

I doubt he will ever become an automatic starter for us but he should be a solid squad man.

My opinion on McTominay was largely formed from watching him in the youth sides. Never looked even good enough to be a solid squad player IMO.
Always praised him for how much he seemed to have improved and progressed in the first team though, it looks like he's continuing to do so. Good on him.

Fred needs a run of games. We don’t know yet if the premier league doesn’t suit him or he’s just going to need time.
In and out of the team won’t help any player especially one who may be struggling to adapt.

I think it's helped McTominay, in the last 2 games anyway, that he's now able to look forward under Ole without the fear of being dropped if he gives the ball away. He grew up as an attacking player afterall.
He's being compared to Fletcher because of his honesty and industry but he made a couple of midfield splitting, Carrick like passes yesterday as well.
Was really impressed with him yesterday, his best performance in a United shirt.

Only disappointing thing from Ole today was him taking a play from Jose's handbook and playing Dalot at right wing to try and convince the board to give him a right winger... I think it was more because his first choice was out, and he took an opportunity to completely nullify Zaha by doubling up on him, which was crucial to victory IMO. The one time Zaha got involved was when Young fucked up, and it led to a goal. Maybe I'm being too kind to Ole, but I thought in hindsight he had legitimate tactical reasons for that decision.

The biggest stat for me is the goal difference. When Jose left IIRC it was negative, or maybe on 0, which is incredibly damning for late November. Look at it now.

All the feels. Feels like United again. For the first time since SAF.

There was seriously no need to add YSB to the end of the Ole's at the wheel song. Makes us look as obsessed as they are. Hope it doesn't continue.

Don't think it will to be honest, from what I saw on social media last night the United fans singing it were a bit worse for wear. Don't think it will stick.
