people want to play. how many games has chong and gomes missed now from going with the squad and not playing? they'll be frustrated. they will have hyped themselves up all week for it to be disheartened not to play. was good to see garner play midweek but its a perfect chance for our young attackers to get another chance too Them training with the first team and being on the bench for some games or traveling with the first team will do them more good than playing meaningless games for the U23's. They're 17/18 and permanently around the first team ffs! They'll get their chances.

They get rotated in the age groups anyway as there are so many kids. Getting to train and travel with the first squad will do so much more for their development. It also bucks up the act of our first team players. I wouldn't worry yet

Doesn't help them one bit playing there, being so much better than anyone else and just getting their shit kicked out of them and picking up injuries.

This bit is quite, quite wrong. how ? We're not talking about kids who've been on the bench 20 times and never got on here. We're talking about kids who've been on, what? 4 or 5 times in total? Just the feeling of being around the first team and involved with them on matchdays is hugely important at this age IMO. If we're in a good position in the 2nd half I expect we'll see another 1 or 2 appearances from them but we are absolutely nowhere near a point where they're going to start getting frustrated at not playing.

This bit is quite, quite wrong. how ? Because they know their role and their place within this squad . Simple as. They're not there for an assured appearance. They are there for the experience of being with the first team , training with them, being with them for a team talk, etc. They'd be deluded if they thought they're assured a start. Their time will come, and not a moment too late or too soon.

This bit is quite, quite wrong. how ? i think frustration is the last thing these kids feel mate. its extremely exciting and all of them know well that they might not play. just the training and everyday routines of the first team squad, listening to ole how he prepares the team, what he expects them to do, is helping them much more than playing in the youth teams. thats how it has been for ages and ages man, it only benefits the kids whether they play or not.

Not sure how Fred is supposed to improve if he doesn’t play. Good to see Rashford back.

Silly to drop Fred.
He needs games.

Not sure how Fred is supposed to improve if he doesn’t play. Good to see Rashford back. Especially if we have no Pogba midweek. If our injuries are unchanged then I expect he’ll be thrown in to a difficult fixture. Not ideal.

I wonder if ole gets the job in the summer if Fred will be gone?

Surely today might help build his confidence before presumably playing in an incredibly difficult game in Paris.
