This is from the Independent, on Fred and Scott. I liked it a lot: ‘If McTominay and Fred at the Parc des Princes was a low-budget, feel-good buddy flick turned unlikely box-office success, last night against Barcelona came the sequel: rushed out the gate, a little rougher around the edges but still an immensely enjoyable romp. Fred was the straight man: taking more touches, making more passes, recovering possession more often than any other player on the park. That left McTominay with all the best lines, earning the acclaim and attention.’ They were both excellent and really suit the higher intensity/pressing game Ole is trying to implement. Yep. I was happy for Fred in particular. You can see what type of player he’ll be when he fully settles in England. I think next season he’ll be a big asset.

No let’s sell our top goal scorer instead? People happy with that quite clearly? Here’s an idea , instead of scapegoating one of them let’s accept that all 3 don’t score enough and are inconsistent Rashford included who for some reason seems to get a free ride! Rashford has had plenty of criticism on here in the past 4/6 weeks, because he's been out of form. Maybe some people are a bit more lenient towards him, but he gets criticism when he deserves it.

Fred and Scott need to continue for the rest of the season.
Time to phase out Matic, Herrera looks to be off anyway and if Ole values his job Young!

Lukaku is older and way more experienced. Rashford has also spent a lot of time wide accommodating Ibra and now Lukaku. He’s a far more intelligent footballer than Lukaku, who has no idea how to use his attributes. Put both of them on the market and the difference in quality of clubs trying to buy them would be huge. I shouldn’t have to explain to a Utd fan that Rashford is going to be one of the stars of European football in years to come. And you’d sell him.

He gets plenty of criticism. Received plenty last night on here, I'd wager more than Lukaku.
Difference between the 2 is that Rashford is simply a better footballer. He's inconsistent and not yet a complete finisher but he's already a better footballer than Lukaku despite being a fair bit younger and less experienced.
Lukaku is not going to get any better, whereas Rashford will eventually become a considerably better footballer than he is now.

No, your point was we couldn't sell Lukaku because he was our top goalscorer, we were okay for goals, and other areas needed strengthening. Someone said sell him and you said we can't/shouldn't. He is our top goal scorer though and he was a damn sight better than Rashford last night! So we sell both then! #no

There are a lot of presumptions there though. He could quite easily remain inconsistent as we are seeing now. I can’t see him anywhere near Rooney’s level ever though unfortunately!

But whatever we do in the transfer market this summer we need a RB, CB and a CM all of the highest calibre as a priority. And a RW more than any of those positions. I would like us to add a RW with real quality, but I disagree it's a priority, based on the fact I know the Glazers won't spend more than 200M if that! and will want players shipped out. In an ideal world were we are a giant club run by experts who want us to get back to the top of PL and European football, we would be buying 1.Sancho 2 Koulibaly, 3 the Palace kid as RB 4 CM proven at the top level and Icardi, while shipping out either Sanchez and or Lukaku. Young, Jones, Bailly, Rojo, Darmian, Herrera, Mata, Sanchez all sold or let go Sanchez needs to go and they need to take the loss, but we won't buy a striker or Sancho, we will lumber on with Lukaku and Sanchez. We will hold onto Young and Mata and Rojo and Jones, probably spend 165M on a RB and a second or third choice MF and CB and then realise we have to buy a new keeper in the last 2 weeks

Regardless of 'free rides', why on earth would we sell Rashford??
And replace him with who exactly??
Bat-shit crazy suggestion that one!

No my issue is with those who want to sell him but conveniently want to ignore the fact that he is still our top goal scorer in the last 2 seasons so far while brushing the failings of others under the carpet and projecting it all on him! Pretty much like what happened with Fellani! All our forwards are inconsistent including him. Getting rid of him without at least a like for like replacement will have us mid table!

A good job he wasn't around in the Fergie era then? Zlatan is the main reason we have 2 trophies! We should re visit this thread in a few years and see who is right!

Instead of getting rid of Rashford I'd much rather gamble playing him in a more natural role...where he should be.
Picking Lukaku over Rashford is worthy of a trip to Broadmoor and this is coming from somebody who has defended Lukaku a lot. Inexcusable how wasteful he is on the ball and in front of goal.

A bit Dogmatic TBH. If you even look at his stats compared to Ronaldo at the same stage. Rashford is playing in a much tougher league with much more competition in a much worse team. He is exceptionally good for his age, 3 managers, changes in formation style haven't helped. He will get better
