shaw needs to learn, obviously. but the amount of cards says absolutely nothing if a player can defend or not, thats just pure bollocks.

The most worrying stat is that Shaw is our highest tackler with 54.
Thats barely over 2 per game.
Perhaps if all our defenders tackled more we might not concede.

Maybe he's missing José's brain that was previously doing the thinking for him

I’ve never had a problem with defenders getting suspended over accumulating cards during a season. I’m actually kind of worried when a defender doesn’t have at least one suspension a season.

Irwin was pretty decent at avoiding suspensions wasn’t he or is that just my nostalgia. I remember him getting suspended for the 1999 FA Cup final for clearing the ball at anfield not hearing the whistle. I can also remember one red card but that’s about it.

Since when are yellow cards even worth worrying about. When Darmian is your back up LB. Not his problem. Some time defenders have to take a card. Ofte ln it's the result of others poor defending. It's just part of it.

Shaw has to play in the moment and not worry about the card accumulation. I was attempting to be funny with the Darmian post. Darmian as the back up is more of an indictment on Ed/LVG/Mourinho than Shaw. Either way. Darmian as the LB and Dalot as the RB - or vice versa - should be enough to see out the 3 points.

With the suspensions I can see a 3 CB line up today; DDG Lindelof Smalling Rojo Dalot McTominay Fred Pereira Pogba Rashford Martial
Pereira doesn't give us natural width but he can put himself about, Martial will drift into the left channel anyway and Pogba can run beyond him into the box. Big 3 points and a confidence building performance needed today guys. Let's do this.
