Yep Shaw is out. Darmian is injured too. If we are stuck for a LB, he should play Lindelof there with Smalling and Jones as CB with Dalot at RB. Lindelof is a left sided player if I am not mistaken? and a decent footballer anyway. I don't think this is a time to experiment with a kid in defence? In my view when all senior players for said position are out/injured, its exactly the right time to try a kid. Rather this than to shoe horn a player from a different position. |

I remember Clough used to say that. If the reserve full back wasn’t good enough to step into the first team in case of Emergency then what was the point of the reserves?

Same could be said for Jones, Rojo, Darmian, Lingard etc. i get what you mean. but as was stated before, if there is no one there who is good enough why risk it in that important and crucial moment of the season? i`d love to see academy products getting their chance and we`ve already seen some of them under ole. but if he doesnt believe that there is someone who can step in in defence, then i trust him. he`s got the reputation to give chances to our youth products but that doesnt mean he has to do it all the time, no matter the quality of the player, just because he is a youth product. there seems to be obvious and clear reasons why none of the academy defenders got their chance so far, but we`ll see if one of them gets their chance today. i dont expect it. |

We've 3 players in our back four in that line up who shouldn't be at the club.
But hey, that's a whole other argument.
At least that head melter Young isn't starting.
I agree with what Stew said previously, if we don't win this our top four hopes are toast.
