Call me crazy but I'm relatively optimistic for next season. Choosing to focus on how good we were when Ole came in and the style of football he'll be looking to implement.
I don't think we'll be seriously challenging for the league but I think with some alterations to the squad and Ole getting a full summer to work with the players, particularly in terms of fitness which has clearly deteriorated in recent weeks, we'll be half decent next season.
Obviously it will also come down to Ole being backed to bring in the right players and get rid of the twats. But I'd rather wait and see what happens there instead of constantly expecting the worst.

Don't know why Greenwood wasn't on the bench today. Would've much rather he come on than Sanchez. Come back to what I said a week or 2 ago, he's 17, I'm sure he could've got himself up for an appearance in the first team despite playing in the reserves in the last few days. Cos sticking the Youth into this situation, with some of the "senior" players we have atm, will actually do more damage than good. Keep them as far away from this lot as possible till preseason. Even though id love to see a few of them against Cardiff, regardless of our CL hopes.

Will all depend on how tight Ole's reigns are. If he's given as much creative freedom as he needs then I'll be somewhat optimistic going into next season. However if he's being restricted to what the board or Ed wants instead then I'm afraid the optimism won't be likely.

Wonder if the McCanns fancy taking Woodward on holiday. All on his 'watch'. Ed, the fucking goon. But sure, we can batter him in one of the most popular threads on this board. 🤦🏻♂️

Me too. I don't know why. Every time I start to feel optimistic, I get my hopes royally shat on. I get my hopes up at every false dawn, and am always too reluctant to admit it when things are going tits up. I don't know why I do it to myself. But with that said, fuck it. Ole's still the man for the job. I predict we'll sign the 9 missing pieces of the puzzle in the summer, then win the treble next season!

These players should be embarrassed if their fitness levels aren't up to par. It seems Ole wants to play a pressing style so it will take a full off season and a complete clear out of players who can't cut it. It feels similar to Klopp and when he first came in. He needed time for players to adapt to his tactics and 2 transfer windows to find the right players for his pressing style. Give Ole time.

What's incredibly irritating to me is that top four is gone, so when the Champions League theme tune is playing next season, it's then that the realisation sets in that we're out of the most prestigious club competition in the world.
Horrendous feeling, it's on the way next season. More than once, with every game taking place in that competition.

There's only 2 games left now with this squad (3 before today's game). If there was half the season left then fair enough but 20 minutes or so in the last 3 games, not so much risk of anything happening to him (them) than getting a bit more experience for the first team.

The other three are like something out of the Wacky Races, so anything could happen still. We have been given every chance the last few weeks and haven't taken it.

I’m actually worried for next season. This is relegation form. Were you saying we'd win the league next season when we were in title winning form 6/7 weeks ago? Not me. I think Ole was the wrong appointment. Caretaker I was fine with but I didn’t think he was one for the long term which I’m sure I said a while back on here possibly when some were getting giddy. l didn’t think the wheels would fall off like this though I thought we would have a dip and results would just level off.

Not the point I was making. Our earlier excellent run wasn't a foreshadowing of us winning the league next season just like our recent run (relegation form as you called it) isn't a foreshadowing of major struggles next season.
