Aye no bother mate. Penalties being such a huge facet of the game. Would much rather Tommy Sorenson than De Gea obviously 😂 Well when it could be difference between winning and losing a game yea it’s potentially huge but you crack on everything is fine. It is fine. Would rather him between the sticks than any one in the world.

GTFO. Can we pick a captain that’s in the XI, deservedly!

So never then. There is no excuse for Young to start any games this season. None what so ever.

Saw the extended highlights of the game.
Matic is finished as a player in my opinion. He’s a plodder in midfield.
What’s frightening is that you can pretty much tell that he’s going to feature this season in the team. I give it until the end of September when Ole will be telling us all that ‘Nemanja’s experience is vital’.

A huge percentage of it is luck. You could criticize him for not studying the strikers previous penalties. You can say he doesnt psyche out strikers etc but the lad is 28. Hes not going to suddenly become intimidating. The key is for our defence not to put him in situations where he faces penalties. Even if he saved 2 or 3 a season, that tells me we are still conceding too many penalties!

See below this is the easy option, when he faces a penalty he isn't great, we dont concede a lot more penalties than other teams so the defense isn't to blame in this case. www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/as-table-graphic-de-gea1.jpg

To be fair, by his own admission Schmeichel was crap with penalties. He was obviously one of the best keepers ever. That Ricardo who played for Portugal in the mid 2000’s was a penalty genius, but was an average keeper. You don’t pick a keeper based on that.
I’m unsure of why this top 10 penalty stats graphic is doing the rounds. It’s irrelevant. Rob Green’s on there and he’s always been a dreadful keeper. Al Habsi is clearly somewhat of a penalty specialist. Irrelevant, cos he’s dog shit. And this argument is occurring after Dave’s won us a shootout.
Anyway, on the game, I thought we were pretty poor until the young lads come on towards the end. Matic was very sluggish even by his standards. Thought Mata and Periera were poor too. Struggling to see what the latter really offers.

Regardless of his record with penalties he saved one that helped us win the shootout. Nothing else really matters, move on. *He's also a better all round goalkeeper than any of those listed so which I'd much rather than pointless penalty stats.
