He will never be worth the price tag but the hate being tossed at him by our supporters is pretty pathetic. We’re as bad or worse than rival supporters towards our own players at the moment. I really hope Maguire turns it around to shut our own lot up.

Well we're hovering around the relegation places so it should be right in Maguire's wheelhouse.

He won’t be the first CB that’s needed that, no shame in it. The shame is we don’t seem to do anything about it. He’s never going to justify his price tag as it was bonkers but he’s not a bad player.

I mean, Van Der Vaart is talking shite there. Having watched some of his can’t-be-arsed performances for Spurs, he must’ve been going home and laughing to his bird about nicking a living n all.

I'm not quite as sickened by his presence as Bestie but where is all the fucking sympathy from the media for Lindelof. It's the same for Rashford, English players get an easy ride and it's always somebody elses fault. The Greek episode happened and if that is what's affecting him, then he needs to catch himself on. He's not in the slammer ffs.

He's not in the slammer ffs. Rooney was past his best for some time at club level before the press finally called him out once he started stinking his England shirt out. All the bullshit excuses made for him especially amongst his retired ex United teammates. A midfielder ffs (once his legs had gone). 🤢🤢

I see this all the time. 'Not a bad player - just needs the right partner.' Bad positional play is not the lack of a decent partner. Being beaten one-on-one time and again is not a lack of a decent partner. Being weak in the challenge is not a lack of decent partner. Zero leadership skills is not lack of a decent partner. Being a total tugboat is something that can be helped with the right partner but it isn't caused by not having one. What is actually being talked about by this 'he needs a partner' line is that he needs an actually good defender beside him to bail him.out and make him look better. Maguire is a bad player. He is a bad defender and he is a bad footballer. Forget the fee. He isn't worth 80 million quid, he isn't worth 8 million quid. He didn't play well last year. He was directly or indirectly at fault in one third of our goals conceded in the League. Go watch them. I never rated John Terry anywhere close to how highly the media did. Terry was slow on the turn particularly with diagonal balls over his head and was too much of a 'hero' defender. Too eager to make sure everyone saw him 'win' the exchange than just defend. He was ten times the player Maguire is.

Yeah but, he's right though. I agree with some of what you’re saying about Maguire, tugboat etc, but he’s not a Sunday League defender. He’s still Premier League standard, he’s just not good enough for what we want to be doing. And coupled with the fact he’s not good enough for where we want to be, he’s also going through a horrific spell of form which makes him look even worse. In terms of his character, he’s obviously not a leader, but I don’t think he’s the type who is going home not giving a shite about the club or whatever. He looked like a man in complete despair after his red card last night.

I didn’t want him however I think he’s a better player than we’re making him look. Guardiola and Mourinho both wanted him. I think both of them would get a tune out of him. Solskaer certainly isn’t. Add him to the list of players who have regressed since coming here.
