We’re an absolute shambles. Ole can jog on. He’s as much to fault to these crap results as anyone. If he’s going to carry on with Lingard he deserves to be sacked
Didn’t take long did it?
Ask yourself this question- do you honestly think Ole is happy with this squad? Forget what he says to the press, that’s just standard bullshit. Do you really think he was happy to let 3 senior players leave and not replace them? Really?
Mark Ogden just said on Sunday Supplement on Sky that he can see us dropping out of the top six.
I don’t see that as a stretch. The top 3 are miles ahead. Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester, Wolves, maybe Everton and Utd are fighting for one spot. If Everton’s signings click and if Jimenez starts to score more regularly for Wolves are they any worse than us? Chelsea have already show signs of improvement, their youngsters are clicking. They battered the Scousers in the Super Cup imo and it was a travesty they lost. And Arsenal for their faults have firepower which puts the cannon fodder away. They may not win the big games but they won’t lose at home to the likes of Palace very often.
We can finish 4th or 7th and neither would be a huge surprise.

Yep, most of the criticism I've seen is already pointing at the manager. Infuriating. It's like people who were constantly moaning all summer about lack of signings have now forgotten who was responsible for that.
No issue with questioning his decisions but the brunt of the criticism should be pointed at one place and one place only.

In regards to the players and selection, he deserves criticism for picking Lingard. Apart from maybe pushing Pogba forward and playing Pereria or Fred I don’t see what else he can do realistically.
Again, this all comes down to whether or not you think he’s happy with the squad. I don’t see how he could be.

We'll be getting complaints about Lingard all season, same shit will be served up whether he's on or off the field.

To be fair, I think it's right that Ole needs to start getting questioned. It's clear as day that it's down to the pricks at board level, but regardless a 23% win rate since getting the job permanently is awful. We have some utter shite players, but we also have plenty who are pretty decent and should be doing much better than a 23% win rate.
Adam Johnson has been in jail for the last 3 years.
I'll say it again. If Ole picks Lingard next game he can absolutely do one. I will not blame him for the shitshow in the transfer window. But I will fucking take him to task for continuing to play that absolute shitcunt Lingard.
I just think we're a little too early in the season to be overly criticising the manager for "continually" playing certain players, especially when we don't exactly have an abundance of quality options. I'm ignoring last season, he was an interim manager who got hot, got the job full time and we faded towards the end of the season. This season is a fresh start.
Lingard has started 3 games, he was ok against Chelsea but has been poor the next 2 games. I don't want Lingard starting either but just think the reaction at present is a little over the top. If he continues to persist with him for a few more games and he's as shite as he's been in the previous 2, then fair enough.
We talked about it on here but the press didn’t seem to pick up on it- bar the very early years, Jose has won the league at every club he’s managed. Including La Liga where he toppled a team with legitimate claims to being one of the best clubs in history. Except one. United.

You cannot just 'ignore last season' because it supports your point.
If we're doing that, how can anyone even think of shipping out Alexis Sanchez, he hasn't even had a chance this season!!

I'm ignoring last season in terms of manager's decisions, not underperforming players. I'm not going to criticise Ole for playing a player 3 times in his first full season as manager. But I will criticise Lingard for continuing to be wank under another new manager.
I'm almost certain Ole would've preferred to have a replacement for him but here we are. I do expect him to start tinkering with his lineup if Lingard continues to play and stink the place out.

The player in question hasn't contributed this year. Not season, calender year.
It's the manager's decision to keep playing Lingard and and starting him.

Ole has no excuse.
What are the alternatives?
Gomes is too young and it's a little too early to be turning to such an inexperienced player this early in the season.
Mata's lack of pace is an issue for the system and he's well past his best no matter how much people like to hang on to some hope he can still be a player for us.
Pereira gets roundly criticised by most on here as being not good enough. Not by me mind, he's the one I'd be playing instead of Lingard but can hardly throw too much blame at Ole seems most consider him to not be good enough.
Other option is to play an extra man in midfield and move Pogba further forward. Those who can play are Pereira (not good enough), Matic (shite) and Fred who may improve (I think he will) but has shown no concrete signs that he will.
He likely wanted a quality #10 in the window but didn't get one, so planned for the season with the squad he has and whether we like it or not (I don't) Lingard is probably the player who fits most in terms of the way he wants to play. It makes sense from Ole's point of view to not drop him after after 2 games of the season, 1 where he was actually ok and the other where he was shit.
As I say, if Ole persists and Lingard continues to be shit over the next handful of games then he will have to start tinkering with the lineup and if he doesn't, any criticism will be justified as he has to look like he's at least willing to try something different, even if there is no guarantee it offers more. I personally think Pereira is the best option, he's just a better footballer and not short on workrate and energy.
