My list of priorities this summer (not including replacing any outgoings of half-decent players like Pogba or Martial):
1) Right winger - James isn't good enough to start as things stand and everyone else would be really out of position there. If we get a top right winger in, then we can have them, Greenwood, James, Rashford and Martial for three attacking roles, which is a very decent attacking lineup IMO, even if it could still do with a backup striker or LW.
2) Yet another CM - Fernandes, Pogba, McTominay and Fred is a good start, but one more top midfielder would give us real competition for places there.
3) Selling deadwood - Periera and Lingard are musts, plus ideally getting Sanchez and Rojo gone for good (Smalling too but he offends my eyes less than those two). Get rid of Jones if we can find anyone willing to take him.
4) Yet another CB - I'm not wholly convinced on this myself but all our CBs are a bit rubbish in some way or other. Lindelof's regression has just been astounding.
That's only three players in. We could definitely do with more, but those three plus Fernandes would leave a very decent side IMO, one that should comfortably get top 4 and maybe more if we have a top manager and a few players grow/play as they should. I know 'comfortably get top 4' is not the aim at all, but there's no way we are title challengers next year barring about 9 signings of £75m+ players so it'll do for now.

I'll say 200 pages before we sign somebody. I raise your 200 pages and say 200 pages before we sign somebody once the transfer window has already been open. As in, zero planning once again before the summer comes, scramble to sign one player at a time starting June, finish the summer signing 3 players paying the original asking price of their clubs. To make my prediction ever bleaker, we'll only have one player signed up by the time we start pre-season. Future me wishes Ed to fuck off in advance.

I think Rashford has found his position this season, while Marital has done everything but prove that he deserves to be our first choice striker. This means that we also need a striker, ideally someone who is more mobile than Lukaku, but not as fragile as the ones we currently have. Pogba is pretty much for sure gone in my opinion, so we shouldn't really factor him too much in how we predict the squad to look, which means we should be looking at 1-2 CMs. Regarding CB, I think whatever is being done behind the scenes to train our group of players to defend is as amateurish as it gets, so while I agree we should look into signing someone better than Lindelof (and honestly, Maguire as well..), we definitely need to look into bringing a coach who's good at training a team how to defend.

Not going to bother trying to think of which players will come in, but early predictions for players leaving.
Henderson. I really can't see him agreeing to yet another season on loan, he's too good to be sat on the bench, I doubt we'd take the gamble of selling Dave and making him our number 1; I reckon he'll go for about 25M or so, with either a buy back clause or a percentage of future sales clause in the contract.
Joel Perreira. Clearly crap. At Hearts now who are 2nd bottom. I've had a quick check of a Hearts forum and the first posts about him I see are "unreal man like having a bairn in goals hes absolutely sh1te", "He’s awful. We won last week because Rangers only hit the target once. And of course they scored with that one. Anything on target is in. The worst shot stopper I’ve seen at Hearts in 30 years." "Send this joker back down south now. He is a ****ing liability." "Terrible keeper. He is a total liability" Free transfer.
Rojo. Hopefully he does well enough on loan to make the move permanent. 5 - 10M for him.
Smalling. Doubt he has a future here despite his good form in Italy. Roma surely want to keep him, most accounts I've read say they do. Probably around 15M for him.
Pogba. If we get 100M for him then good business, he's been nothing but a virus here for 90% of his time. Exactly the kind of player we're saying we don't want anymore, the one more interested in fucking dancing and haircuts and which photo to post on Instragram rather than putting any kind of effort in on the pitch. Just go.
Lingard. I reckon he'll be off. His form is literally at Championship level now, it's beyond embarrassing watching him on the pitch. I genuinely have no idea what kind of money we'd get though. If someone offered 20M I'd be on my knees to accept it.
Gomes and Chong, free transfers. I can't see them hanging around, interest from Spain and Italy, contracts ending; they'll be off.
Hopefully that'll give us around 275M to spend, we need a CB, CMx2, RW and a F. Probably won't get all 5, but we can hope.

Agree about right winger being the priority. James isn’t good enough right now. Still think there’s potential there though and he needs to be given time. In normal circumstances he wouldn’t have played anywhere near as much as this in his first season at this level in only his 2nd full season. Think striker may become another big priority though and not a backup.
