I’m close to washing my hands of Martial. Great one on one finisher but just strolls about. He’s far more ability than Calvert-Lewin but the Everton guy ran himself into the ground. Martial’s kit won’t even need a wash. I’d agree, when he’s on it he’s top notch Tony, but generally he shows just total disinterest and that he’s basically not arsed. He’s obviously a talented lad but lazy. Okay, no player likes getting subbed but even when Ole takes him off it seems to take him an age to get off the pitch. His whole attitude just seems wrong. There’s only so much time that the fans can tolerate it.

Someone will have a very difficult decision on DDG next season especially with the lad at Sheffield doing so well. You keep him, all keepers have patches like this plus there are a handful of keepers as capable as David DeGea. Theres no gurantees that Heaton can make that step up. De Gea is the least of our worries. De Gea's bad patch is coming on to years. When he's cost the joint most amount of goals over the last 18 months, that is a worry.

Someone alluded to it in the thread earlier but AWB looks gassed to me. Dalot should get some games if only to get AWB refreshed.

He reminds me of Berbatov at times with his off the ball movement which would be fine if he could create even 50 percent of what Berbs could with the ball at his feet. The comparable you’re looking for is Anelka.

Martial is an infuriating player. Greenwood also suffered with Martial’s lack of effort or urgency. I’d play Ighalo and Greenwood next game, you can already tell Ighalo will at least pay with some effort.

Still fifth, but only on goal difference - Wolves and us both on 42 points. We have a better squad of players than Wolves but they have a much better manager and coaching team. If only there was something we could do... Which is why RoM has been lusting after (slight exaggeration for effect) the likes of Neves (not an exaggeration), Traore, Jimenez and Jota? Guaranteed the Wolves supporters isn’t reciprocating re: Martial, Mata, Matic etc.

Make no mistake, Dave has been poor of late, by his ridiculous standards, but his errors are all mental. To be fair, he literally carried this club on his back with zero help for the better part of 3 years. Man is due a drop in concentration/motivation after all that.

Martial is a frustrating player to have. There are times where I want Ole to drag him off and strangle the cunt because he's so fucking lazy. But then out of nowhere he pops up with a bit of magic or a goal, just like he did against Watford.
For the time he's been at the club he hasn't reached the level we thought he would and I dont think he will now. But part of me doesn't want to see him leave either because wherever he goes next he will probably go on to reach that level there.

But I would probably only pick 3 or at absolute most 4 of their players for out starting 11. However if you swapped managers then I’m certain we’re a couple of places higher and they’re much lower. Which isn’t good enough for Utd.

Nothing lost and nothing gained but is a real lost chance to get a grip on that 4th spot, especially with a few tough games coming up.

At this point there's no point fooling ourselves with Martial - his character is just not going to allow him to fulfill his potential. That being said, he is on course to complete a 20-goal season.. which isn't THAT bad. I wouldn't build a team around Martial, but I also wouldn't be so quick to get rid off him.
