Champions League reminds me of the semifinal against Arsenal when Fletch got sent off because of that cunt Fabregas' dive. We would have beaten Barcelona with Fletch imo.

Come to think of it, to be totally fair, we should have been playing Chelsea that night not fucking Barcelona, who were handed that result on a platter by that ref. English clubs probably have been fucked over the most by reffing decisions in the Champions League bar none. No other European club has faced some of the utter nonsense English clubs have...

I've been struggling to get Nani's red card in 2013 out of my mind for years, felt like we were destined to win it that year. Would have been brilliant for Sir Alex too in hindsight.
I recall I was crestfallen at the time as well, so probably just a permanent shitty one if I'm honest!

It could actually be argued that we could have achieved a lot more under Fergie. Which is insane. And a testament to what a fucking immense football club we were in those days. God, whose idea was this stupid thread...! smithy2 ! Why are you doing this to us mate ! We’re at least 2 leagues and 1 Champion’s League light of what we should have won. Yeh some really shot losses in Europe. Dortmund, Monaco and Bayern Lev spring to mind. Also i think if we had grabbed the early goal in Rome we would have won.

Wembley was a lesson. Our midfield in Rome should have been Hargreaves, Carrick and Fletcher. That would have been able to live with Barca’s midfield. If we’d gotten a foothold then our forwards would have hurt their defense.

I think he may have been able to do the same to either Xavi or Iniesta..

Had we got the first goal then yes we could have won the game because Chelsea done a number on them before the referee had intervened but Xavi and Iniesta are probably two of the best central midfield players in the history of Spanish football. They have made mugs out of better players than Fletcher.

With Fletcher in the team we would have had more physicality but once they got in front, you could of had 3 Fletchers and not get near them. Fergies big mistake was not playing Scholes, it was a lack of quality in midfield that cost us.
