Nothing like the flu.

Thats what my Dad said also - he was saying he's never had anything like it and wouldn't wish it on anyone

Yeah, IF I’ve actually had it, I can only imagine how awful it would be to get it badly. Particularly the breathing side of it. That’s what scared me. Cos even with the mild symptoms, breathing in was so weirdly dry in my throat. Never experienced that with flu. Easy to see how that would cripple anyone with asthma. Glad I quit smoking two years ago. I’ve felt worse with flu than I have this last week or so, but, again, IF I’ve had Coronavirus, it hasn’t hit me as hard as it could’ve.

Congrats on giving up the smokes. Good decision. I'm 19 years off them now. Best thing I ever did, quitting those things. It can't be a coincidence that I've had some amazing hols since!

Worst thing I ever did starting smoking. Smoked for 15 years, and never felt any adverse effects from it up until I started getting gassed during cardio that usually I could sail through no problem. Funnily enough I didn’t find it that hard to quit either. Just stopped. Miss it when I’m having a drink though.

I once smoked so much in one night (back when you could smoke in pubs) that it made me throw up. After that when i tried to smoke i could feel myself dry heaving. Was a great way to make me stop lol.

I used to run pubs. I would chain smoke all day + all the passive intake from every other fucker smoking. The first thing I did every morning was cough my lungs up, sometimes so badly I would heave. Cut down to ~20 a day when the smoking ban came in, simply because I couldn't have a fag hanging out of my mouth at all times anymore. Went on to roll ups when I got out the pub game and cut down again. I was on 5-10 a day when I finally quit 9 years ago. I hate to think of all the money I wasted, I hate that I used to smoke in front of my kids. I genuinely can't believe I was that stupid and irresponsible.

Still not sure if I’ve had it or not really. So last weekend I was dead to the world. Absolutely exhausted. I’d felt a tightness when breathing, nothing too dramatic I guess, but it felt so dry at times breathing in. Aside from that I had a sore throat that never really fully took off and the odd headache here and there. I medicated with cough medicine and Lemsip. Early in the week my breathing improved, however it went back to being quite tight again soon after. But today I do feel a bit better again. Honestly, I hope I’ve had it. Cos although the exhaustion was bad, and I was pretty worried the whole time that it was going to take hold of my chest, if I’ve had it I’ve gotten off lightly. Hope everyone on here is alright. That’s more or less what I had around Christmas, which I Hope was it. My dad also had it, despite getting a flu jab. At the time he was shocked as the jab had worked without fail for him in the past. My Mrs had similar over the entire Christmas period, she was really ill, her GP said it was a particularly virulent strain of “Australian Flu” which “peaked” really quickly and unexpectedly around early January, she didn’t have he flu jab, which she usually has when I have Mine. I too hope everyone’s okay!

That's crazy. Although, I have heard that they're using the passenger flights to ring back UK citizens stuck abroad and those citizens will then be quarantined upon arrival. Emirates has started already. Not sure though. I think its irresponsible, but I also understand that citizens may want to return home after weeks of being stranded. Tough one to call. But I would have much rather there have been no flights incoming from these regions.

Nothing like the flu. Doesn't it vary per person? I thought it was awful for some, mild for others, not even registered for some and sadly deadly for a few. So some fool could think their experience, whilst genuine, meant that the virus wasn't serious for anyone.

I think it's fair enough if it's only stranded citizens (as long as they genuinely got unlucky and didn't go fly at the last possible moment or somethimg). Must be horrible to have been stuck abroad for weeks on end, not to mention bloody expensive.
