I know that this might be a divisive thread but let's try and move on from this.

Once again, covid reminds us all that if you're wealthy enough, rules don't apply to you. I wonder what the Australian people will have to say about this. I’m watching BBC News in UK ,there are a fair few Aussies that look pretty pissed off with this decision.

Australia granted the exemption in the first place and it was the government's own fault it u-turned chasing public opinion. I have no strong feelings either way on the non-vaccination thing but I am delighted this nonsense has been overturned. Nothing to do with wealth, just bad decision-making from the Australian government. Slap it into them. Hope Novak wins the thing now.

Medical exemption seems to have a very convenient timing about it.

I have no strong feelings either way on the non-vaccination thing but I am delighted this nonsense has been overturned. Nothing to do with wealth, just bad decision-making from the Australian government. Slap it into them. Hope Novak wins the thing now. The state of Victoria in co-ordination with Tennis Australia granted the exemption - not the Federal government. The federal government controls all border procedure and they as such overruled the State of Victoria - since he did not meet the criteria of vaccination. This is the reason for his release, per the BBC - "The government acknowledged in court that Djokovic was not given enough time to respond following the notification to cancel his visa. The player was told he would have until 08:30 local time last Thursday to make comments about the visa cancellation under section 116 of the Australian Migration Act, but the Border Force made the final decision shortly after 07:40. The Judge said Djokovic could have had more time to make a submission about why his visa should not be withdrawn if authorities had stuck to the original time. "We all play by the same rules," Judge Kelly said. "Stated in other terms: those rules were not observed."" So it is because of some random procedural error that he has been released, nothing to do with whether he was vaccinated or not. My original point still stands. He has an endless supply of layers because he is wealthy. Go have a look at the number of people awaiting migration status at the same hotel ickle Novak was "imprisoned" in. The reason they're still there is because they don't have high powered lawyers and media clout to afford it. The rules are different for the rest of us. Edit: I just noticed your edit. I don't care as much for tennis, ever since Roger and Nadal have gone on the wane and there are no tennis players out there that I have forged some kind of a support with ever since those two. Novak Djokovic is a qualified, confirmed, self-proclaimed, solid gold nutjob. Him and his wife believe you can change the composition of water molecules with your emotions and they believe in the 5G conspiracy. If he wasn't so good at tennis, he'd be storming the capitol or some such. Good for him if he wins, wouldn't make any difference to me. I just sympathise with the rest of the folks who didn't have his connections to gain entry into their country for whatever reason during the pandemic.

All the science indicates you can't get Covid twice in 6 months, they literally have no leg to stand on.

Is there anything to these accusations that he was at an event on the 17th after a positive test the day before? Just trying to catch up with it all now.

Apparently/allegedly there are verified photos of him at an event at that date. So assuming that is true, are they saying he’s either forged the positive test or knowingly been around people while positive? Could all be bullshit of course, purely speculative at this stage.

Just seems very convenient for an anti.

In California there are now forcing healthcare workers to go to and from work after they tested positive for covid. Clearly omicron is low risk if what they are doing in California is Ok. It is over, Novak has presented his case and he has won his case in a court of Law and he has no more questions to answer to anybody, I hope he wins it yet again to shove the point home and there are millions of Australians behind him too.

Fuck Djokovic. How on earth anyone - Victoria it sounds in this case - thought it was ok to give an exemption when thousands of Australians have missed loved ones for years (or forever if they've passed), whilst enduring some of the longest lockdowns on earth, is beyond me. If I were Australian I'd be raging.
