My thoughts on this Djokovic incident , Tennis Australia should have consulted with the federal and state government before giving the guidelines and permissions to players , its not fair to a player to give the exemption and then backtrack and basically say 'nah you see what we said earlier means fuck all , now you have to take vaccines or you cant play'.
Very poorly handled by the government and Tennis Australia overall.
Also this lockdown nonsense has to stop all over the world , destroys more lives than the covid virus ever will

Tend to agree with much of some of the preceding sentiments. The issue, at least legally, looks like a procedural one - he wasn't given an opportunity to make representations in the alternative, and that's a fundamental principle of natural justice ( Audi alteram partem). Embarrassing for the Australian government, to be honest - the validity/efficacy of enforcing a vaccine mandate isn't really the issue (though look at places like France + Germany, with high vax rates and who had to roll back on these measures and re-close many of these spaces for everyone anyway), and every country has the sovereign right to enforce whatever their democratically elected representatives feel is correct. They could (and should) have outright refused him entry, and that would have been the end of it. Interestingly, South Africa (the source of Omicron ) has now dropped the curfew that has been in place since March, 2020 - and recently abandoned much of the contact tracing + forced quarantine measures as they realised the country wasn't capturing up to 10x the actual cases. Mortality rate still super low now, and it is largely being attributed to the high degree of seroprevalence in the population (70-80% of people have had Covid) and the emergence of natural immunity en masse (vaccine immunity does not influence the whole cascade of components comprising immune response - T-cells etc - so it's not as hollistic/non-specific as a naturally produced immune response). 27.3% of the population is ''fully'' vaccinated, whatever that means considering the Pfizer jab is said to be only 25% effective against ordinary infection from Omicron after 2 months. I was doing some reading on the Spanish flu recently (10% mortality rate, vs Covid-19 which is currently at 1.79% global mortality - again, consider we've probably missed 5-10x the actual cases so that % can possibly be lowered by a factor of 5-10x): Lasted just over two years, came through in four waves with the fourth wave being much less virulent. Thereafter, the virus had run its course and had become endemic (recall, a virus is technically more evolutionarily secure if it is less deadly but more transmissible). Been trying to find the two Joe Rogan podcasts with Drs Robert Malone and Peter McCullough, but since Youtube removed them in full I'll need to go look on Spotify! Interesting times ahead!

Been trying to find the two Joe Rogan podcasts with Drs Robert Malone and Peter McCullough, but since Youtube removed them in full I'll need to go look on Spotify! Interesting times ahead! It’s a good listen those two podcasts. Frustrating that this content (or content that does not fit the narrative) keeps getting censured! McCullough is one of the most published MDs out there.

You're welcome to believe whatever you'd like to believe, Red While that philosophy may apply when talking about the moon landing, evolution, creationism, or if the earth is flat it shouldn't be appropriate reasoning to validate misinformation during a global health crisis Jay. I agree with a lot of what you said in your lengthy post. I only remarked about Joe Rogan because to me, he's shown himself to be an idiot and should stick to what he does do well - UFC and elk meat.

Dr Robert Malone was one of the creators of the mRNA vaccine so think he might know a thing or two.

Dr Robert Malone was one of the creators of the mRNA vaccine so think he might know a thing or two. He indeed performed a lot of work on mRNA vaccines, but that doesn't qualify him to be the foremost authority on it. I posted articles of the scientific community debunking his theories. I am not personally debunking him - because I am not educated enough in the subject to hold any viable opinion on it - just like probably 90% of the vaccine denier community. I quote scientists, who have rejected most of his covid hypotheses.

That's fair, but I doubt the average person can distinguish between truth and untruths for themselves at this point, and I don't think all the reporting has been totally honest. Unless he/she has a background in virology and/or biotech. I've also found it fairly strange how people hate on Rogan, when in reality he just asks people questions (and often gets them to share pretty interesting stuff). Unfortunately he attracts ad hominems from everyone who doesn't agree/want to listen to what his guest are saying. Anyway, good luck out there, I don't really care what people choose to believe - I've been trying to remain as objective and open to new information as possible

Look at the state of American politics for example. That's why I believe information has to be taken from reliable sources. I didn't really used to hate Joe Rogan - I used to like listening to him. But of late he has decided it helps his ratings to bring in controversial figures who peddle their own agendas, and he barely challenges them on it. So you do have a point - my personal dislike for Rogan does stem quite a bit from his guests these days, ha! Good luck to you as well!

So you do have a point - my personal dislike for Rogan does stem quite a bit from his guests these days, ha! Good luck to you as well! Agree with much of this, and it's been horrific to witness. Just to add, Rogan was literally torn apart for taking ''Horse medication'' (Ivermectin) by the mainstream media (e.g. CNN) even though it was obvious he'd taken the human version (the version that warranted a Nobel Prize for treatment in humans). That's super weird, particularly when you realize that almost all the current vaccines are being employed under emergency use authorization (i.e. because there was/is no effective treatment). I personally know >20 people who were prescribed Ivermectin by their physician to treat Covid (including my Dad, who lives in the UAE). Food for thought, my views on mainstream media have substantially shifted over the last few years - I'm not sure what (and how) is being reported is always in our best interests.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaanyway!
Sounds like English government are going to announce plans to 'live with COVID' as we look to downgrade from pandemic to endemic. Finally, we're getting something right. This comes after WO saying 2022 needs to be 'end of COVID'. The end is in sight.
