These injuries to Pogba and McTominay will likely help as you'd think it'd force Ole's hand to start vdB, but I wouldn't put it past him to start with Fred and Matic instead. Likely to be a tough game, their pressing and our defenders treating the ball like a hot potato isn't a good match, so it's going to be tricky. God. He fucking will go with Matic over VdB won't he. FFS. Ole read this and said "fuck you, I'll prove you wrong." But somehow decided the answer is to shove Bruno wide?! |

I'm not sure how Ole has managed to start VdB and still annoy me. Bruno wide is a fucking joke - unless he's a false 9, which is also stupid. Greenwood presumably central is good at least, as is VdB, but the Fred-Matic combo has no passing ability so VdB will have to break the press by himself.
They've been significantly better than us this season as well. Win here and they're 1 point off the top. If we win we're 1 point off Southampton themselves.
Edit: actually, is it a diamond? Matic at the base, VdB and Fred central, Bruno at the tip, then two strikers drifting wide and darting back in? That's actually quite clever. I retract my earlier anger - for now! (But I reserve it for whoever decided to post our teamsheet by number instead of by formation.)

500 league appearances for DDG in our shirt. Had a couple of poor seasons, though he's been better this one so far for sure. I never saw Stepney or anyone before him, but I did see Schmeichel and Van Der Sar - and I think Dave's peak was even higher than both of theirs. A real, real shame he hasn't won more with us.

Fred is great at everything except passing and shooting. We need someone next to him who can do those two things, as well as a bit of what he does. Matic is worse at basically everything apart from shooting, and he's not exactly fantastic at that.
