Great comeback, good win. Been thinking for a while that the diamond is our best fit for the season. Without a top, or even decent, right winger/attacker, then we should play to our strengths, let the players decide the formation* instead of trying to shoehorn players into areas they don't want to be in. If we could get a really top class number 4 in, to sit and dictate behind a 3 of either Fred or Scot alongside Donny, Bruno further up in the hole, then we could be onto something. Defence still a massive concern though. A Kante style sitter would help them out, but still, the amount of chances we give away is ridiculous. I know the two goals were both set plays today, but they still had other chances and hit the post. Every week teams are creating 5 or 6 real opportunities against us, this has to stop if we are to have any chance of winning anything. I said all summer we should get Cavani in. I never understood some of the reaction in the media to his signing, that it was a panic signing and shows we still don't have any strategy. Bollocks. He's a class act, experienced, and was a free. It was a no brainer and should have been done weeks before it actually was. Finally, I (along with many, many others on this forum) first started touting Ward Prowse as a signing we should be making about 4 years ago. How on Earth is he still at Southampton when so many others have moved on from there? His set plays alone are worth 10-15 points a season, but he's a lot more than just that. *By that, I don't mean sit the players down and ask "What formation do you think we should play?". I mean, if we have no right winger and lots of talent in centre midfield, then play a formation that doesn't really have a winger and manages to get a lot of the midfielders on the pitch in the areas they want to play in. Fuck 4-2-3-1 and asking "hmm, which poor sod gets stuck out wide right today then?" It definitely was a panic buy. He was a free agent and we signed him in the last couple of days. If he was our target then we should have signed him at the start. Good signing don't get me wrong but he wasn't the original target

Cavani`s movement was brilliant for both goals while others stood around watching he was on his toes ready to pounce, if Rashford and Martial are ever going to be proper strikers they need to learn from this guy, no excuses they will be training with him. You can't coach that kind of instinct, you either have it or you don't,no other CF at the club would have scored those two. It would be great if just some of his ability rubs off, neither of them have the heading ability he has for starters.

So.The (deleted) comments Cavani made yesterday are seen by FA as “offensive in some contexts” How anyone from outside this club can conflate this with Suarez saying the same to Pat needs to give their heads a collective wobble. Cavani (whilst not knowing the way that the word is seen here) said this to a friend. Suarez didn’t.

Really good analysis on his Cavani and his movement by Shearer on MOTD. If some of this rubs off on the kids then great, but Cavani has always had that instinct, like all the top, top strikers, extremely difficult to coach into a player I would’ve thought.

so someone has a different opinion and you call them a fucking wibble sorry SET didnt know you were the fountain of knowledge. 5 or 6 times he lost the ball 4 or 5 times he didn't track back when he lost it. As I said its my opinion you don't like it oh well. It would be a boring place if we all conformed to a single thought wouldn't it? Dont have to be a fucking fountain of knowledge vs you. Bet you think Martial is still brilliant. Or are you like Rustin and are still making excuses for the other French fraud?A fucking amoeba obviously knows more than you about football if you think VDB was poor today. Fucking hell. Still, nice to know I can take a break and still be the first acknowledged. Wibble. Absolutely fucking awful. Pogba absolutely needs to be dropped. So does the manager. Pogba and Ole are quite similar. They occasionally play an absolute blinder. Sometimes, they even string those together into a full run of form, and we start to think that they really might prove us wrong. But, that form never lasts, and those great games aren't making up for the shabby ones, where the best case scenario is anonymity and the worst is actively damaging us. And ultimately, they shouldn't be at the club.

The only people that seem to be irate about this Cavani situation is (shock horror) the vermin. Even though they're not involved they're doing all they can to act like victims because of the Suarez incident. Insufferable cunts.
This situation and that is nowhere near the same thing.

I have said it loads of times but it would be interesting to see the scouse reaction if Gary Neville had spat at one of their fans. does anyone think he’d still be working for sky?

The amount of people who haven’t read the actual FA report on the Suarez incident is staggering. Suarez used, and admitted to using, a different N word. Not only did he admit to this in the depositions for the report, he also admitted it in his book. The situations are not the same. Liverpool fans now agree Suarez was out of order purely for the purpose of trying to get Cavani banned. Actual “journalists” have reported the incidents as being the same today. Irresponsible. Two different words in two very different contexts. He’ll get a ban, no doubt about it. They’ll be terrified of looking inconsistent.

Credit where credits due to Ole, the changes and sticking to the same formation worked a treat, the only real difference was that we actually took chances and Cavani gave us the urgency and intent up top we needed.
Cavani should get a run in the team now, Martial has been largely shite so far this season and Rashford is still very erratic in front of goal.
Same with vdB - keeps things so neat and tidy and ticking over in the middle, isn't afraid to get stuck in either. I really do hope this is all leading up to us fucking off Pogba next summer.

But the narrative I read, more than a few times, was that our strategy was out the window and this was a throwback to the "just buy anyone" era. Which it absolutely wasn't. United signed 10 players this summer, 5 of them 16 years old, one 17, one 18, one 23, one 27 and one 33. 8 of our signings were young players who'll improve and are long term signings, one is in his peak, and one is older and experienced. How that is "the end of the strategy" is beyond me.

Yeah, I thought that was odd too. Sorry SET. Really? Thats very odd. I could have sworn he was the same person wibbling on that we just needed loads of different players, Pochettino, and 50 different formations to unlock the poor misunderstood French fraud? No? Oh well. Must have been someone else so. Sorry
