Zidane clearly isn't a great tactician. And he owes a lot to Mourinho and Ancelotti who built his team moreso than he did.
But, I think there is a lot to be said for managing the egos of that side and getting several of them to peak at the same time. That dressing room must have been a fucking nightmare to manage, so many egos, and yet he got them all working together. They all respected him, even after three years. That's very difficult, I'm not sure any other manager still in the game today could have managed it.
I firmly believe that the side from 16/17 (when they won the league as well as the CL) is right up there with Barca 10/11 and Bayern 12/13 as one of the best sides I have ever seen. The Juve team they faced in the final had been inpenetrable defensively, only conceded a couple in the whole tournament, and they smacked four past them like it was nothing.
