TBH more positives than negatives in this game, IMO. James was useful enough, still needs lots of work on his final ball. Defenders largely untroubled and Greenwood looked as sharp as he’s done all season, unlucky not to on the scoresheet. Kept a dangerous side at arms length for 90 mins too, and were very disciplined not giving away silly set pieces. I’ll take that, fwiw. And you can talk about lowering expectations all you want. We are where we are. This win puts us on track for consecutive champions league football via the league for the first time since Fergie. We have to take ‘progress’ where we can take it. As stated in the City thread last week, we’re not a million miles away but we’re no where near close enough.

Is VDB hurt? Broken heart?
What head scratcher this situation is. We have so many players that take too many predictable touches in and around the box and this guy is a one two touch whiz near goal.

That 5 clean sheets in a row in the league? Can't argue with that at all. Definitely looked more solid recently, Milan in the week aside. 4 in a row. We might need one next Sunday, to get a penalty shootout.

Diop is comfortably the best CB on the park btw. He wasn’t though. Both ours were extremely comfortable, more than can be said for Diop and Dawson who wobbled at times. I think I posted that just before Diop made a mess of controlling a ball and let James in. But I thought he played well overall. Maguire was decent in fairness but West Ham had zero ambition until about 10 mins from the end. I think that probably enabled our 2 to look comfortable, something that’s very rare.

We can score loads but concede loads or concede few, but score few.

Only conceded 3 in the 10 games since Everton 3-3, but struggling to put teams away now, we've scored no more than once in 7 of those games.
Considering the season West Ham are having I'll take a hard fought 1-0. Massive week coming up now with Milan and Leicester, I really can't see us getting past both if I'm honest, fingers crossed though.

We can score loads but concede loads or concede few, but score few. True. In fairness we do have a lot of injuries to players who can help (Pogba and Cavani particularly) but we’ve been struggling with breaking teams down all year. That stat when we were the top scorers for a while felt false, embellished by 15 goals against Leeds and Soton. We all know we need another game changer. We all also know we won’t get one.

Bet the house on them scoring from a set piece. This was spot on 🤣👍

Rashford is so frustrating. If he scores on those easy misses, he’s pushing 30 goals, which puts him on the short list for the ballon d’or. He is one step away from being genuinely world class.

He has everything in his locker, just finishing not there. He's still young but he's not a teenager anymore, he'll be 24 later this year and he really needs to be getting that improvement in his game sooner rather than later. Every single match day thread you will see "FFS Rashford" or some variation there of. That's not good enough.

Potentially good news for a huge week:
Solskjær: "We hope five of them will be back [against AC Milan]. David [De Gea] hopefully, Donny [Van de Beek], Edinson [Cavani], Paul [Pogba] maybe and Anthony [Martial] hopefully - yeah, he's very likely to be back. Stronger squad to travel to Italy with." #mulive [mutv]

This , just look at our creative players - we have a lot of potential , but in terms of really world class players there is one player Bruno and may be pogba (injured or lacking fitness for most of this season). Rashford blows hot and cold , Martial in the worst form of his life, then we have 35 year old injury prone Cavani and 2 kids Greenwood and Amad diallo. No way it is good enough for a team like United.
