The dumb take is not realising that Zidane has done nothing as a manager outside of the pony Spanish league where it is a 2 horse race or should be. AVB did well as Spurs i the EPL until the board who are kind of like our board forced the sale of Gareth Bale, who AVB brought through from being a defender to a forward. I never even said that I wanted AVB to be the next manager I just said I like him as a manager and anyway he is far better than Ole will ever be. I also mentioned Jochim Low a world cup winner just to add different names to the boring merry go round of names in the thread. None of the names in this thread are the right choice in my opinion, they are all better than Ole and Carrick but that isnt too difficult.
I would take Big Sam over most mentioned in the thread. What is clear is that the board want to be i cotrol of the purse strings at the club ad Carrick will most likely be there for a while unless we get stuffed in the next 3 games. This is very likely to happen as Carrick was a part of the problem in the first place. "To continue this conversation would be "sex masochism". You have yourself a good one". You too as we have to agrree to disagree on this occasion, I think that we can all agree that what has been proposed by the board is not adequate.

From tribal football so take with pinch of salt albeit it says info is from Sky.
Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo is keen for Spain boss Luis Enrique to take over at Old Trafford.
United are expected to consider Enrique as a possible replacement for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, who was sacked this morning.
It's thought the former Barcelona manager would be interested in talking to officials about the vacancy at Old Trafford, and it's now understood he would have the backing of Ronaldo, who thinks the Spaniard is the right calibre of coach to enable United to compete with Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, says Sky Sports.
Enrique won the treble with Barcelona in 2015.
Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who is out of work since leaving the Bernabeu in May, and the current Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag, are also names that United are expected to consider.

Rather shocked that Phelan kept his Job, the fact he is not taking interim charge says it all really.

I know i dont need to tell any of you lot this but what’s the point of having an interim who was a direct part of the last regimes failures. Let’s leave 1/4 of the tumor inside the patient. Brilliant. I have heard talk that Carrick had ideas that were routinely ignored by Ole. I don't know if that's a leak, speculation, or just some dickhead making stuff up on the internet (I saw it on Reddit, so it's almost certainly the latter). But I do hope it's true and that he might not be as clueless as he seems. All the talk of players being concerned by inexperienced coaches learning on the job doesn't fill me with confidence in that regard, though. It's some dickhead making up shit on the internet. Carrick has been a part of this shit show and should follow Ole out the door.

It’ll be Zidane, because the people who run this business only like Hollywood. And it’ll the wrong choice. Again. I disagree. Anytime I watched Zidane’s teams they were well-drilled and not just a collection of stars. He’s a proper manager in every sense. Which is why we won’t get him. He’s a very good manager, but by and large, he doesn’t want to move to England. He might have his head turned by the silly sums of money being banded about for his wage etc, but why go for a man who genuinely isn’t that bothered? I’ve been a big proponent of Ten Hag. Enrique gets my pulse racing too and Lopetegui has been mentioned. I’d be asking them first. But does Enrique bail on another World Cup less than 12 months out?

Enrique's response to the United job during a press conference today was "is this April fools day" There is no way he leaves that job before the WC finals. They must have someone in mind as an interim coach( like Laurent Blanc and my guess is it will be all in for Pochettino next year. Nothing too inspiring and nobody to cause too much trouble

Big question, something tells me he wouldn’t without the complete blessing of the Spainish federation. They looked after him in his trying moment and he will likely show them some loyalty. However if they were to have a conversation with him and say he has their blessing as the opportunity might never come again, I think he will take the challenge we present. You are bang on the money with Zidane

I would take Ten Hag, but that would require a whole installation of a new philosophy and the guidance of a van der Saar figure to make it work, so it will never happen.
I would take Luis Enrique, but he’s about to win another World Cup so it will not happen.
Zidane is, IMHO, underrated as a coach. He won three successive CLs, and made a profit on transfers whilst he did so. Also Varane and CR7 live him. And he’s free.
Seems like a no-brainer. We can all chip in and get his wife a few Selfridge’s gift vouchers to keep her happy. I’ve worked in both Madrid and Paris and there is nothing for Manchester to be ashamed off, unless you’re a knobhead.
