I bet there's a load of backslapping on the United board about signing Martinez, but why wasn't he signed first week and ready to start for the first league game. Guarantee at least one of those games would have had a much better scoreline in at least one of those if not both. I presume you mean Casemiro? I did not. Absolute brain fart from me, seem to have erased him going on tour and starting those games completely from my mind 🤦♂️ |

That was a really poor game. Very little quality from both sides. Very dull.
Defensively though, very solid again and they are winning games for us because in attack, it's just not working. Rashford isn't a number 9, Elanga shouldn't be starting and I don't think Ronaldo suits ETH's system. We need Martial back as I think he fits it perfectly. And no, I never thought I'd be saying start Martial over Ronaldo!
Thankfully we have another option in that front 3. Marcus needs relegation to the bench. He shouldn't start ahead of Sancho and no way Antony will be sitting on the bench. He needs to make changes for Arsenal. McTominay was actually OK, but that needs to be the end of him starting now. We need to win that midfield battle with Arsenal. Get Casemiro in from the start. Just keep the defence how it is. Please!

I see Martinez's height was a major issue once again. 😏 Let’s not pat ourselves on the back too much. Go back to the first two match day treads and you will see some on here said far, far worse. |

If he stays disciplined and stays up as the 9 instead of dropping deep because he’s frustrated and tries to be Harry Kane, he fits it better than Rashford by far. How bad was Rashford with his back to goal today? Don’t think a single pass came off that I saw. Ronaldo is a far better short passer and first touch than Rashford. Rashford would be better suited coming on for 30 mins with fresh legs running at defenders after they’ve just dealt with Ronaldo’s goal threat for 60. |

Clean sheet is very encouraging. Martinez obviously gets a lot of attention as the new signing and is proving his critics wrong. But a big factor in our defensive improvement is Varane starting the season fit and looking like the world class defender we thought we were buying last summer. And of course no Maguire who Ronaldo correctly identified is part of the problem.
Attack is a little worrying. It is pretty clear that we need Ronaldo's goals. Rashford and Elanga should be thanking their lucky stars the Glazers only were willing to buy one forward or they'd both be on the bench where they belong. Rashford was good against Liverpool but that is because we had 30% possession and as he showed under Ole he is suited to a counter attacking game plan. When we have a lot more of the ball he does nothing with it.

Overall we are missing team speed in a lot of areas. Our midfield is slow as dirt. When we have Casemiro-Eriksen-McT-Bruno (park the bus) all in midfield we are slow as shit and prime for a counter. On the attack we have limited options with those 4. No balance. We need Casemiro with one of Bruno or Eriken with a box to box. We are only to blame for not bringing in FDJ, who would have turned round our plight and helped transform the team.

We were passing the ball around nicely. Our problem is being too wasteful in the final 3rd, which is on the front 6 players. However it's a process and I do beleive we'll get there. As for FDJ the only thing we were to blame for is not moving on sooner and wasting most of the window trying to sign a player that was never coming. |

How exactly? We should have had the deal sorted early on. And if it wasn’t going to happen then we needed to identify the other options and get it completed at least by preseason. Such a big need for us in that role as to not have strengthened.I love who we brought in, but the spine of the team is so important for making a consistent run and winning… |

Another clean sheet and you hope these wins are bringing the squad together, helping create a greater desire to listen to the coach and execute his plans on the pitch.
You replace Elanga with Antony and Casemiro for MCT and you have another improvement.
The game on Sunday is clearly massive as Arsenal are on a role and confident

Rashford & Elanga both need to be out that side on Sunday,both offered nothing last night.
Although there was more of an attacking edge when CR7 came on,that was largely due to the game becoming more open because of teh changes LCFC had made.
Rashford did not want to press.
A quick at the table today already highlights where are problem will be this season,but then the Glazers & ETH did not feel the need to sign a CF.

Looking back at the last 3 games the negatives are we should have killed all those games off in the first half but the positives where our defence seem to be dealing with the problems our lacklustre front line are creating.
If Maguire and shaw or Maguire and telles had started the last 3 games those 9 points would be 4 at the very best.
We still need another 4-5 in before the start of next season.

Rashford was poor last night. A winner against the scouse and an assist last night is not an awful return though, and we are not spoilt for choices up front. I’d let him build some confidence with a run in the side.
