Truly amazed if they have gone public with this prior to the window closing. if it's correct, I would bet money it has been leaked out to force the Glazers to spend today It’s on the website so I guess another line would be ‘we didn’t know the extent of the injury and it was too late to make a move’ or something else bullshit. |

I am sure there will be a press release tomorrow saying we looked at various options but this late in the window it was impossible to find someone who met our sporting and financial criteria and we do not want to sign someone just to make up the numbers.

Erik back to making excuses for the Glazers. Lots of clubs are still in the market on deadline day and it isn't just Eriksen injured we also have Donny out for the rest of the season and we play three in midfield but now only have four senior team midfielders available for selection. Arsenal literally are going ahead and signing Jorginho today. Chelsea are going to wrap up Fernandez.
But it is what it is. At least Erik is talking up a Fred Casemiro partnership and I would much rather see that than seeing much of Scotty.
And while some naivety is to be expected in his first season in English football it wasn't exactly unforeseeable that the injury risk was higher against lower league opposition who often resort to fouling and it wasn't necessary to play Eriksen who needed some rest and isn't as tough as Casemiro.

Big fan of Ten Hag, but seriously - if you're not clued up enough on who might fit the mould (even temporarily on loan, I mean we signed Weghorst?!) then what are we playing at?
Tielemans and Jorginho are right there.
Surely must be a line fed from the top down, as this may well sink our silverware chances in a few competitions we're challenging for.
I have no sympathy for what's to come.

Isco joining Union Berlin. Obviously his stock has fallen but he'd have been no worse of a desperate stop gap solution than Weghorst. He was available on a free. But of course we left it too late to hijack the deal.
