Watched some of his highlights on youtube and he has a cracking right foot. I hope he's ready to use it and to be a rock in the mid field alongside Cas....we are going to need him. Happy we made this loan.

It's probably more to do with injurys but this singing actually feels like one that has been thought about, a player that will fit the team needs, really excited to see what he brings to the table, and if he does well get him signed up in the summer.

What I find strange is that Elanga is often referred to as striker, but he's never looked like a goalscorer. Besides being somewhat pacey I don't see how he's getting gametime ahead of Pellistri & Garnacho, the former isn't nearly as good as many have been claiming but both deserve more chances than Elanga. Bang average player. Edit: Elanga is actually valued at 25m on Transfermarkt - I feel like I'm in the twilight zone I find it maddening that no one here rates Elanga, yet every club, bar Everton(lol), that was linked with a move for him in Jan has been praised by most here for identifying and nurturing young talent. Is it a case that we're all wrong, or the clubs chasing getting this one wrong?

For Dortmund I would say they have identified a model of taking younger English players, playing them exclusively to their strengths to create hype/great stats, and then selling for big profit. Some will be legitimately good players, others will be fugazis.

PSV and Dortmund do occasionally develop some great talents. But majority of their players wouldn't get anywhere near our first team. So there is a lower bar and someone like Elanga might be a useful squad player for them. And note no one has offered hard cash they all want him on loan. And even if some cash offers come in the summer I cannot imagine us getting more than £10-£15m.
I think he's had enough game time with us for us to be quite sure that he isn't good enough and we won't have any regrets letting him leave in the summer.

As I've said he works hard and is always on the go but up to now that's all he's showing. He's only 20 so of course there's time to improve, the question is at the level he's at now can he improve enough? Because that's a lot of improving to be done. Maybe a loan deal for a season will give more of an answer to that. But with Garnacho coming into the first team and even Pellestri now, he's been knocked down the pecking order as both are offering and show far more promise.

I think Elanga is pretty limited but he's not going to improve as a player unless he plays. A loan move makes total sense for him.

We are thinking about a signing apparently. But not yet at the monitoring stage We start monitoring towards the end of the window, or if we lose the first two games of the season.

Thought we agreed to bench the monitoring etc. talk?
It is very tedious fc.
