About time this guy had his own thread. What a signing. Already a cult hero for his aggressive ways and also proving with his incredible passing why Ten Hag so desperately wanted him. I’d go so far as to say he’s the best passer we’ve had back there since Rio.

He’s been the best signing for some time.
Not only is he a world class player but(along with ETH)he’s improved the entire back line by bringing the best out of all the others.
Compared to that lumbering oaf that he’s replaced it’s night and day.
Staring from next season he should be captain on top.

I don't think we should get carried away with ourselves. The world class defender is Varane and with his calm and commanding presence he is allowing Martinez to play to his strengths just as Eriksen is allowing Scotty to play to his. That said it is easy to understand why Martinez has become an instant fan favourite. He approaches football like going to war and it is a long time since we had a player like that in the team.
