Ronaldo training with the first team today so I assume he has apologized to Erik. Would be nice to see him start as he would be pretty fired up and want to prove a point. But most likely as he's missed quite a few training sessions he will be starting on the bench and Rashford will get some more target practice.

Would consider resting one or two here. Would also like to see McNeil involved, given our lack of options up front it cant hurt not to. Give him a run up top and see what he can do. Hoping Pelestri or Garnacho get some game time aswell.
Ideally could do with a few goals here to help the goal difference out. Can do without going to Spain needing to win by 2 to top the group.

Is something like a 4-0 minimum a dream at this stage?

Please can we see more of Garnacho (and not more of Elanga) I think Pellestri is more likely.

Any chance of the Cypriots doing us a favour? Probs not.

Would be quite fitting really if we finished 2nd on goal difference. Unfortunately it means we really shouldn't be resting anyone tonight. Real Sociedad's goal difference is 4 goals superior to ours and I am sure they will beat the Cypriots by more than a 1 goal margin.
If only we had someone who can score hat tricks.....
In other words best chance is to start with Ronaldo upfront and Rashford on the left and hope that Ronaldo is sufficiently fired up after his humiliation to go on a goal blitz.

Can't see goal difference being a factor in this group now unless we put 6 or 7 past this lot tonight. They've got a +4 over us and that's before they play Omonia. Unfortunately we've put ourselves in the position to have to do things the hard way, again (shock I know).
Still want to see a solid win here though.

Or win 10-0 here and hope Sociedad have an off night in front of goal and only score one or two 😏. I'll take 1-0 in Spain then.

We aren't in a great position with the goal difference. But Sociedad only beat Omonia by a single goal margin in their earlier fixture and it is possible they could slip up.
But end of the day the only teams we really have to fear in the knock out stages are Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and if we want to win the thing we will probably have to face at least one of them at some stage and it might be better to face them earlier rather than later in the competition. As Ole should know there are no prizes for reaching the semis or final.

Might as well play the reserves here, back to back games, we need to win the one this weekend against West Ham
