That was disgraceful but its far more than that thats cost us. Had we not squandered so many chances in the other games the result tonight would have been enough. Putting the ball in the net is becoming a problem and its cost us going straight through to the last 16. We've managed to solve the issue the other end, we need to do it at the top end and quickly. True but it still doesn't explain the strange tactics in the second half , especially towards the end. Fred and Maguire while chasing a goal in last 10 mins ?!? |

Also very difficult to not agree with Scholes,2nd 1/2 was a shambles & on a night when we need to win by 2 we only had one shot on target.

Its clear we need a top striker, Ronaldo ain't it.

Fixture congestion is what we deserve for failing to top a weak group.
We talk a lot about needing a goal scorer and we have been wasteful this season. But we aren't creating enough good chances especially against weaker opposition. Tonight especially I think it was failure to create enough good chances rather than wastefulness that cost us the most. But in general if Eriksen isn't playing or has an off game we struggle and really with his creativity we need him playing further forward. Antony and Sancho do not have much of an end product for all their skilfulness. Bruno is working very hard for the team and still has some nice touches but he isn't unlocking defences the way he used to when he joined us. When Rashford plays as CF we lose his ability to create chances from the left. Erik has the bad habit of bringing on McFred every time we could use another goal.
Also I think we need to engineer an exit for Ronaldo in January. There are shades of Rooney with his annoying tendency to drop deep. His primary asset at his age should be his finishing ability but he seems to have lost that. He slows us down. For whatever reason Bruno plays particularly badly when he is in the same team as Ronaldo. And in general he doesn't seem to have much chemistry with any of our players. This was a game we needed him to score and while the service was generally poor he didn't manage it. Bring in Gakpo and a front three of Rashford Gakpo and Antony looks tasty and should make our attack far less predictable.

Neither are the other two who should have been upgraded years ago. |

Shocking refereeing and VAR officials in this competition!. But yeah as others have already said, it's our blunt attack that's the real problem in the League too.
I like Rashford, but the hullabaloo over him scoring a goal with his head at the weekend highlights the level of our forwards.
