Lack of depth remains a big issue. This playoff idea is fucking stupid by the way. Yeah it's fucking ridiculous also those champs league teams shouldn't be allowed in the competition either. Never agreed with this finish 3rd and you get another shot at a trophy. Either qualify or you're out. |

That was disgraceful but its far more than that thats cost us. Had we not squandered so many chances in the other games the result tonight would have been enough. Putting the ball in the net is becoming a problem and its cost us going straight through to the last 16. We've managed to solve the issue the other end, we need to do it at the top end and quickly. |

Throughout the game there was no one available to receive our defensive headed knock downs allowing Sociedad to attack again and again. Big gap between Case and the attack

The eccentric tactics were embarrassing. How does adopting a narrow formation that makes you vulnerable to attacks help you get long, high balls into the penalty area? We never cross from the opponent's final third, let alone full back position. Too clever by half.

Probably the first time since the derby Ten Hag has got it wrong.
A playoff is annoying, but at least gives us a glamour tie in the ‘secondary’ competition.

Very disappointing from Ten Hag. Team selection was wrong. Tactics were wrong. Substitutions were terrible. Players out of ideas and made it too easy for Real Sociedad.
Defensively the improvements under Ten Hag are very evident. But if Rashford or Eriksen aren't on form our attack is mid-table at best.
We've done well in the big games in the Premier League and managed to grind out results against weaker teams in the Premier League. But eventually if we continue like this we will drop points. And I cannot see us going far in Europe. Would be no bad thing if we got knocked out in the play offs. It is an unnecessary distraction and I would rather we focus on the Premier League and try and win one of the domestic cups.
