Bruno is banned at the weekend so Eriksen should be played further forward against Villa. Like to see him rested for this.
Maguire needs to get sharper. If Lindelof is fit I’d rather play him though
VDB should be getting good minutes too

In fairness last season we did beat Villareal 2-0 in Spain (which would suffice for tonight) and Atletico are of a different pedigree to Real Sociedad. But yeah I don't like facing Spanish teams. Much prefer playing Italian teams. Great news that Atletico are knocked out of Europe and would be nice to avoid Barcelona until later in the competition so Erik has as much time of possible to improve us so we are ready for them. Our record in Spain is absolutely atrocious. |

Avoiding most of that lot should be the motivation they need to beat them by 2 or more.

Yeah I think Barca are the only club we have to worry about and even then they would need to be on the top of their game. And there may be an advantage to playing them early rather than later in the competition because with clubs like Barcelona once they get to finals their DNA kicks in and they raise their game.

IF we end up finishing 2nd there's a few there that I wouldn't be overly concerned about facing. Just could do without the extra 2 games and ideally finish top. |
