God I swear I'm getting dementia.
All the talk of being in the Champs League next season and Fulham being a nothing game, and I'm thinking that we're not there yet, if we finish 4th still got shitty qualifying to go through so really still need to win the last game.
This hasn't been a thing for 5 years! Christ my mind is going.

More seriously, hoping the Antony injury isn't as bad as I think it might be. Also, really hoping some of the younger lads get a run on Sunday now. Garnacho start, Pellistri, Mainoo, give Butland a run, Weghorst. Keep the lads who are more likely to start the Final a full and proper rest.

This. The club is at a fork in the road and has the perfect platform to kick on. Along with new ambitious owners our standards should be raised to the levels that we had a decade or so ago and view this season as an abject failure. A club like Manchester United should be firing a manager for scraping top 4 but for this season we are where we are. I don’t believe in sacking managers for the sake of sacking them, but when I look at a club like Bayern who fire managers mid-season when the team sits 2nd place, because they think someone else will make sure they finish 1st.. I can’t help but admire that absolute winning aspiration. Proper owners wouldn’t have given any of the previous managers post-Fergie as much time as they were allowed. Don't think they really believed he was the right man. Bayern have kept faith with managers in the past and its paid off. |
