Irony is that a lot of the deadwood was signed by the manager and being on fat long contracts will be impossible to shift. So if that is your approach then Erik will get to see out his contract.
The legacy player excuse has less validity than it used to. Maguire, Lindelof, Dalot have been relegated to squad players and are only playing because of the defensive injury crisis. And I think our problems run a lot deeper than a defensive injury crisis. Bruno and Rashford are fair weather players. When the team starts playing better they will play better but unfortunately they don't have the characters to help pull us out of this mess.
But really Erik needs to show he can get more out of the squad including the players that he desperately wanted to sign. Because if he cannot do so then bringing in someone else who might be able to makes better business sense than giving ERik another £400m to spend.

His Ajax team were brilliant, we all saw them. Incredible attacking football, a joy to watch. By all accounts his work with the Bayern reserves was superb too. Bayern wanted him to stay, Pep in particular. He gets here and now looks like a Championship manager, at best. This place has become a graveyard for managers and players alike. Bruno is a walking liability at Utd, looks like prime Scholes playing for Portugal… This cannot be fixed given the current structure. I honestly think we should just carry on, take three and four goal hidings for the rest of the season, win the odd game 2-1 and keep the manager. Just to fuck over the players who are committed to getting another one sacked as much as anything. Like, sod the lot of you, you’re not more powerful than him, learn to live with it. We won’t succeed under this structure. Last season was about the ceiling for what we can achieve I think. Short of getting someone like Keano in to just hammer them all, in my mind there is no point sacking the gaffer. The next one in will go the same way. Yep a new manager would give another lifeline to these bums anyway. Probably only end with McClaren anyway.

I think it is worth giving Erik a bit more time to wake up. He is still in the denial stage where he is believing in his players and thinking they will come good and show their "true selves". Trusting these players will get him sacked. He needs to treat them like the schoolchildren they are and get tough. What happened to the Erik that made them run laps for not covering enough ground? He needs to implement a culture where good performances are rewarded and bad performances result in being dropped regardless of status. He also needs to be more realistic. His philosophy isn't going to work at the club. Our players do not have the technical ability or the discipline or the ability to play as a team. He needs to go back to basics and get us back on track. Most of the new manager bounce is because a new manager comes in and makes changes. It doesn't matter what the changes are. Simply making changes and taking a fresh approach can break the downward spiral and increase motivation and morale. There is limited desire to spend £15m to sack Erik and no real superior candidates available. So we need Erik to wake up and shake things up a bit and make changes himself. These lot gradually breaks everyone down , even Ole for his faults started so well , i actually had big hopes when he said that 'Iam going to be successful here and some players are not going to be part of it' line. As we all know nothing of that sort happened. ETH also seems to be going same way , he started so well , said and more importantly did the right things. Now he has went back on his own Ajax football , he is talking about giving Rashford enough chance so he will hopefully start scoring , there were reports he is reluctant to go all out because of the 'mental fragility' of this team.

The problem is these gutless cunts all know if they don't like what they see or get what they want they just have to bide their time and a new manager will come along to give them a fresh start.
Ten Hag needs to find the side of himself from last season that wasn't afraid to drop Maguire, wasn't afraid to cull Ronaldo. He needs to find this side of him before there's no turning back, which unfortunately doesn't seem all too far away.
Ten Hag hasn't done himself favours this season, but it also goes to show that he lacks the support around him and from above. He looked lost last night which was a sad sight to see. I'm glad he accepted responsibility in the interview, but he's the only one that can turn this around, be that with the current players or by dropping them and proving a point, which imo needs to happen.

I said in August the first third of the season would be shit and hopefully a better finish than nearly every other season. I still hope for that, but didn't think it would be this bad. The injuries and Varane and Casemiro are over their peak let's just say. I mean where was Varane last night after sitting on the bench last weekend? What happened with Casemiro at halftime?
It's bad planning in the summer as well as constraints, poor planning and really poor massively overvalued previous signings that should be well gone. A lot of people are saying that's his team, but it's not. Dalot, Maguire, Evans, Lindelof and Varane are not his back four and McTominay is a shit central mid, even if he scores 7 goals and Casemiro was not the signing he wanted. Rashford and Martial are not his signings either and they have both been massively inconsistent for every single manager since Van Gaal. I doubt very much that Amrabat would be the player he wanted to sign on loan to marshal his midfield, if he could buy a top young DM. Mount was a mistake, because we needed to spend elsewhere, but he could still be a great player in a different side.
The left arm doesn't know what the right is doing at this club. It will take years to sort out unfortunately. The same as it took Arteta and Klopp 4 years to get close to competing at the top with good people backing them on the same page. It's sad to see it this bad right now, but I think it will improve this season and the next 2 will be huge a huge job for Ineos and whomever they put in, to change the level of performance and organisation at the football club.
It was actually massively underfunded from 2008 after that last great and after they sold Ronaldo. It was covered up for 3/4 years until Fergie left and never kept up with the competition.

If ETH wants to begin asserting his authority (as he should), he could do worse than start by banning that prick Luckhurst from press conferences.

Fuck these overpaid softer than baby shit players. "boo hoo managers too demanding" "boo hoo manager wants me to apologize for being a lazy cunt and slagging him off to the public" that's all I hear and the media are feeding off it just justifying their actions. Being a late blooming United supporter(Est. 2002), I had no idea the shite Beckham went through from the English fans, but he toughed it out. Fergie was notorious for the hair dryer treatment and it got the best out of the players at times because they actually had metal. ETH demands a certain level and honor that goes not only with his philosophy but the actual culture of this club! Sir Bobby, God rest his soul, was probably disgusted with these players and rolling over in his grave after 6-Nil in his honor.

We can harp on ETH signings, but hindsight is 50/50.
Antony looked every bit of a potential next star coming from Ajax and he played under ETH so that was more promising. Yes he has been Bebe awful, but that's on him as a player not ETH imo. We paid buckets for him with the hope of being a stud. Mount has the potential but I don't know where to play him in the shite squad to bring it out of him Amrabat is showing us WHY YOU DON'T GET PLAYERS THAT WERE NOBODIES BEFORE THE WC aka James Rodriguez! Onana looked to be the Bebe of the Goalkeeping but since returning from Int duty he has been a different player, respect. Weghorst was a no other choice loan because he needed support and the FO was clutching their purse.

Antony clearly didn't make any sense at all for £90m. Even half that amount would have been a bit of a gamble. No one else was interested in Antony besides us and only because of the Ten Hag connection. Even in the weaker Dutch league his stats were pretty average for a winger. Perhaps all the drama with his ex girlfriend is weighing on him a bit but he remains very one dimensional-flashy but with no end product.
Erik made it clear when he signed Mount that he intended to convert him into a deeper central midfield role the same way he did with Eriksen. I've seen no evidence that season that it will work and probably the best use of him is out wide as he can at least provide some service to Hojlund which Antony is completely failing to do.
Onana will be OK for us. But Dave didn't really need replacing. Erik got it very wrong in thinking the team was ready to play from the back and Onana's inferior shot stopping ability is subtracting a lot more than his ability on the ball is adding. And not to mention the £45m or so could have better been spent on a defender.
Amrabat in on Erik as reports are suggesting other people at the club weren't keen and rightly so. And for the £65m or so we spent on Mount and Amrabat we might have been able to get a midfielder who could have helped extend the lifespan of Casemiro and Eriksen and potentially formed a long term partnership with Mainoo. Also I really do not think Amrabat has been much of an upgrade on Fred although it is early days. At least Fred had a lot of energy and got around the pitch and had a good understanding with Casemiro.
Hojlund looks promising but he is very raw and he is not getting the service. Again Erik doesn't seem to have considered whether he had the players in the team to provide the service to Hojlund and it looks as though Rashford is suffering from not being the focal point in attack just as he did when we signed Ronaldo.

Remember last season when we was doing really well in the league and the cups, but we needed a cf, a proper club would have backed their manager in January to kick on, instead ours got weghorst on loan, that's the absolute state of this club right there in one transfer.

But hes earned his place over the last few weeks. Still needs replacing but I want Ten Hag to start players that put the effort in, not be guaranteed a place Irrespectiveof how shit you're playing. He's one of very few doing that atm. Doubt it'll last but for now he's been one our better players. Goes to show how fucked we really are 😂

Optically as a manager you simply cannot afford to lose so heavily especially in back-to-back games. He needs to somehow steady the ship to buy himself some time while he sorts out the issues on the training ground and gets players back from injury.
And I agree that our players are soft and weak. But unfortunately the players Erik has signed seem to be no better in that regard. Erik has tried being sensitive and understanding and has tried to deflect the blame from the players and publicly stated he believes in them. But he needs to get tough and instil some discipline and insist on professional performances because we are an embarrassment to watch.
