If ETH gets sacked we will look at a young progressive coach apparently, isnt that what ten Haag was when we got him in? He's 53 but I get what you mean. I think

Last years transfer window for ETH was a farce. He had to lean on his contacts and really push for something he didn't really want in the end and then they had to go and get loans in January. This years window was a complete farce again! Yes some of that is his fault, but none of these coaches are general managers or really experienced in bringing in players.
You don't bring in a foreign coach and expect him to be responsible for coaching and managing the football and putting together the team and making major recruitment and transfer decisions. That's not what happens at the top clubs, but it's what happens when the people supposed to be making those decisions and planning the building of a team are out of their depth and not qualified to do it. They are not helped by the fact they are getting mixed signals from the weirdo owners and I'm guessing it's the usual mixed signals and money released late and then panic sets in.

Probably not worth paying too much attention to tabloid rumours.
But if our players are upset that Maguire was stripped of the captaincy and Sancho has been exiled then they are lost causes.
Maguire wasn't good enough to play in the first team and was unable to regain his place last season. So it made no sense to keep him as captain. Especially as his authority was undermined by regularly being the worst player on the pitch and culpable for most of our goals conceded. He has been a bit better this season perhaps because he feels he has something to prove to the coach and can focus on his game rather than captain duties so that again supports Erik's decision as being the right one.
Sancho despite being on a massive salary stays up late playing video games, turns up late for training, and generally plays like a sleep deprived zombie. Erik wouldn't have gone public unless it was a running problem he wasn't able to fix behind closed doors and Sancho basically called Erik a liar and refused to apologise so what does he really expect? It isn't as if his performances on the pitch warranted being indulged the way he was at Dortmund where by all accounts they had the same issues but let it slide because he was so good on the pitch for them.
If there are any criticisms of Erik's man management it is that he is too soft on the players and too slow to drop underperforming players. But against Newcastle the squad players given a chance did little to suggest they could do a better job so you can understand why Erik feels forced to keep the faith in last year's star players and hope they eventually come good again. And he probably knows that if he tried to get tough with them they would just club together and down tools completely. So hard to know the way forward for him really.
All he can really do is figure who the players are that are still onside or professional enough not to let their personal feelings about the manager get in the way and pick those guys.
I think this is also a bad reflection on Bruno as captain that he is letting all of this happen under his watch. He's a senior player and captain and is responsible for keeping the dressing room in order and quelling this kind of dissent.

ETH only getting sacked if the club are announcing SJR has bought in and they have a sporting director. They will only do it that way as a PR spin that they are changing things for the better et etc.
Personally I think you get SJR in, get the sporting director, work the January market with ins and outs and give ETH until end of the season to see if things turn around. The patient approach is to even give him the summer but that will heavily depend on how the season ends.
A mindset change is required from owners, board, directors, manager, coaching staff, players

i havent watched the last 4 or 5 games, only treated myself to the highlights.
ETH seems lost but i am 100% on his side. sacking him will change nothing, zero. same cycle will just repeat itself and i'm sick of that.
i also dont believe in the idea that he got all the players he wanted. we know from every past manager that they always had to make do with what they got rather than what they wanted. fuck the club, fuck the board and the owners, fuck the players. i am not falling for the same tactics again that has been standard for the past decade.

Rashford 1 goal in 16. Martial 1 goal in 14 89 Goals in 9 years at the club and they still can't get rid of him and replace him with an experienced top level goal scorer Hojlund 0 so far in domestic 3 -12 all competitions Antony 1 in 19 . Garnacho 1 in 17 Sancho 1 in 11
That can't be explained by just individual form. That's just something rotten at the club and the set up.

Casemiro out for 1 month. Thanks for the year was a top top player. Madrid pissing themselves when we gave them 100m towards their new team and big contracts for him and Varane.

He did have a wonderful one year. Had we won the league, I would even argue that it was worth it. But fucking hell, how do we fall for this trap over and over again?

Yep they shift a player on his last legs and buy the hottest kid on the planet by adding about 20 million of their own money. we have to stop buying these types of players. We are the European version of Everton.

Agree that the structure and set up at the moment make it impossible for any manager to succeed. But we shouldn't be giving the manager and players a free pass.
The terrible goalscoring stats of our forwards is something that Erik and his coaches can work on. Clearly Hojlund replacing Rashford as the focal point in attack has caused some issues. The role of Rashford and Antony needs to change and they need to understand their new roles and develop a better understanding with Hojlund. This is something that can be worked at on the training ground. How difficult is it to tell Rashford to lift his head up, stop taking pot shots from a distance on goal and pass or cross the ball to Hojlund? Antony is a hopeless case and I cannot see him ever having an end product. But Mount can play on the right. We could also try Rashford on the right and Garnacho on the left. Eventually something will click.
Midfield is problematic as we don't have the stability of last year. Amrabat and Scotty are probably our best option at the moment as Mount hasn't looked at all comfortable in central midfield and Hannibal is a bit of a headless chicken and Mainoo is too raw and especially returning from injury will need to be eased into the first team. Amrabat and Scotty is a crappy midfield but at least if they play regularly together they will develop an understanding and we need a stable team to find some form instead of chopping and changing all the time.
Defence is a mess but AWB coming back will help as Dalot is a liability. But we must never ever field the Maguire and Lindelof defensive partnership as it always leads to disaster. Varane is our best defender and needs to start when fit. Otherwise Evans and Maguire is probably the best of a bad bunch. But we need to get Sir Jim on board and get him to release some funds to sign a young centre back this January.
I don't think Erik is an idiot. I think he is stubborn and burying his head in the sand and putting too much faith into his players. If he is made aware his job is on the line and we need to see some progress on the pitch then I think he can be pragmatic the way he was last season and find a formula that works and at least keeps us above water and puts a stop to these demoralising defeats.

Can someone make the Fulham thread? I made the City one so have self-banned for a period, but someone has to, annoying as it is!
