Like seriously... We play with actual intent and we get fucked by some wild ass VAR decision to kill anything we have

Var should only be allowed to review in real time, and then go and kill itself and never be used again.

As for the penalty, it's soft as fuck but no surprise it's given with the way things are going nowadays.

Don't always agree with Millar, not even sure I do here as I do feel it's a red based off other ones this season, but the wider criticism of VAR within it is spot on.

The idiots who run football won't do anything about this, but VAR is now the dominant factor in top-level football. Along with the Saudi acquisition of FIFA and UEFA and their refusal to stand up to Abu Dhabi, the game really is ruined already. I couldn't care less about getting another four or five percentage points worth of refereeing decisions correct. It's unwatchable, and grotesque.

For some reason we just don't close teams down. Standing off players cost us the 2nd goal. You can't just let players cross the ball unchallenged

Exactly. It’s endangering a player’s safety. Bang on red. If that’s Salah on anyone of ours, you’d all scream bloody murder. Finally, some sense! It's like when Son broke Andre Gomes' leg - completely accidental, but he broke his fucking leg. You can't just wave it away and say because it was unintentional there's no punishment. So if someone falls over, lands on someone’s leg and snaps it in half, they’re getting sent off just because someone has a broken leg? It’s never a red. He’s gone to plant his foot in the ground. On the Salah thing, if that went against Liverpool after a string of decisions like we’ve had, Klopp would be sending an envelope full of anthrax to UEFA HQ.

Bad decisions aside, we've conceded 9 goals already in this with just 3.5 games and saved a penalty last game. It's just piss poor defending and controlling the ball. They had a lot of chances too and on both flanks we've been slow to get to the ball or read the play.

With the way the game has been going for years - especially in European games - it was always going to be given as a red. These ones always are, and Rashford would know that. This is down to him I think. I would bench him beyond the three games he will miss. He was playing well imo until then. The ball to Mctominay was lovely.

I do think that is always going to be given by VAR, whether it's us or the scouse or an oil club or anyone else. The problem is that a referee would never give it in real time, but VAR slows down and twists things. We've seen similar incidents lead to VAR reds in other games I think.
VAR needs scrapping, or at the very least incredibly extensive reform. It is the problem here and it is being used incredibly badly by referees across England, Europe and the world. The spirit of the laws of the game has been completely removed from the equation, primarily because of fear, with the irony being that the criticism they fear is more intense than ever as a result.

Have we given away a pen in all our CL games so far?
