Great result, badly needed. If we can follow this up with a win vs Bournemouth we might have something to work with vs Bayern. Also, McTominay could have had a hat trick. Some on the Board would never have recovered His goals are the reason he starts now, doesn’t offer that much else.

I knew that would be an open game with a big score or at least a dozen open goals between them, which it was. Two weak chaotic sides with poor finishers on both sides and poor defending. Chelsea are even worse defensively than us. How many open goals did McTominay have? 5?
Just another win against a team in the bottom half. Chelsea are ideal for us, completely open and crap at finishing.

Much needed and deserved result.
Credit to McTominay, he's pretty shite as a midfielder in general, but in front of goal he's prolific. The rest of the forwards should be taking note.
My biggest issue is still how open we are though - Amrabat looked decent (albeit still very slow), but he's so exposed when McTominay and Bruno play so high up. They cut through us on numerous occasions, and if we play like that against Liverpool it'll not end well.
Good to see Garnacho get an assist - hopefully that cements his place in the team over Rashford.
Shaw to play CB and Regulion at LB until Martinez returns.

When Scotty goes forward Bruno has to stay back and cover and vice versa. It is pretty basic. Just requires some discipline which is where we seem to struggle.
As for the big games we need to drop Bruno or Scotty and bring in another midfielder alongside Amrabat such as Hannibal or Mainoo to give us a fighting chance and might even be worth playing Rashford upfront instead of Hojlund to maximize our threat on the counter attack. That worked quite well for us last season in the big games and I cannot imagine us creating many chances for Hojlund against top tier opposition

Absolutely, keep Lindelof out of that defence at all costs, Reguilon will hopefully stay fit I like the lads determination.

Good win , but we were still far too open. Chelsea themselves had 3 or 4 good scoring chances.
Garnacho was excellent and the team as whole had lots of energy and you could see the effort from everyone. Rashofrd and Martial should continue on the bench for a while. Hojlund's PL form is getting a bit concerning now , hopefully the goals will come soon.

I have faith that once that starts the goals will follow. Hopefully he'll keep the same XI going into the Bournemouth game and we'll see that starting to happen. Failing that I'll take his first premier league goal as an Anfield winner otherwise. 😏

A player that the manager wanted to sell bailing him out. Shows how desperate it’s got. The point is he’s a squad player. ETH like many before over estimated the abilities of the current incumbents and this is where we are.

I don't disagree with you, all I'm saying is many great sides have squad players that do a job when called upon. Fergie had loads. Don't mind if McT stays personally, but I don't want him starting every week unless he's delivering like that every week (because we'd need to be outscoring our opponents based on the open spaces in our midfield).

Although certain players need upgrading you can't replace those that are delivering before passengers that have no intention of wanting to.
