The papers are full of the "Wembley of the North" comments this morning, can't see Jim getting tax payers cash to rebuild OT, imagine the meltdown from the ABU's, it'd be absolute magic

I would much rather we focused on building a team that is strong and worth watching.
In recent years "The theatre of Dreams" has become "The Theatre of Nightmares" with some of the beatings we've received at home.

Yes but to build the team required and attract the players required having a bright shiny new stadium and or training ground revamp will go some way to doing that, we need to have a "project" that we can show to players and their agents this is where we're going, we mean business. And United should have the best ground going anyway, it 100% needs doing and asap.

If we were successful and well-run it wouldn't be an issue. But I do not want an Arsenal situation where we have a sub-standard transfer budget because we are funding a stadium revamp. Let's get the team into a good shape with a strong core of young talented players that only needs modest refreshes every summer and get us consistently earning all the prize money that comes with reaching the Champions League knock out stages every season and should then be enough to fund a good revamp of the stadium.
Upgrading training and medical facilities etc seems a much higher return investment that won't break the budget and will deliver benefits on the pitch.

I just want a ground where it doesn't feel like being 6ft is a crime, and also doesn't leak. So I'd rather that done first, tbh.

I think there's a way to rebuild OT whilst keeping the spirit of it. Spurs have a blueprint for that with White Hart Lane, though if possible I'd like the outside of OT to look more similar to how it does now.

I would like to see them keep the stadium and updated/build on to it but I'm no structural engineer so I don't even know if that is possible. The other question is, if they do that where will we play while they make the the massive changes?

Leigh sports village, same as the women! anywhere but that blue plastic shite hole where the cheats play! Hopefully they'll consider having a min OT for the youth and ladies teams to play at as part of a training ground revamp etc, but yet more cost and not sure how they'll afford it anyway, Jim will have to dig deep.....

The other question is, if they do that where will we play while they make the the massive changes? 75% of the stadium was built in the last 30 or so years (only recent history on those 3 stands)and while big it’s outdated.Any match going fan knows how cramped the seats are plus the general facilities all round need bringing into the modern era. For me it would be best to build a new 100,000 seater behind the current stretford end so we can still play at the old OT until construction is completed. Once the new stadium is finished we can either. 1. Knock down all but the south stand(for the history/tunnel etc.)and build a 30,000 smaller stadium on the old site(reserves/women). 2. again knock down all but the south stand then covert that stand into a museum built around the old tunnel along with offices, bars, megastore, hotel etc.etc.(keep the shape but close off the front like arsenal did with Highbury). With option 2 we could then convert the old pitch into a fan experience zone with huge screens on the new constructed south stand wall where the seats used to face. just a few ideas to move forward but keep the history.

Seems that Jim and Dave visited the Academy to learn how it operates and how they can help improve things…
They definitely are doing all the right things…

Should be a pretty easy sell. Newcastle's project seems to have stalled a bit as FFP is becoming a serious constraint and they are having to consider selling star players. For all our mismanagement on the footballing side, our commercial side continues to go from strength to strength and if we actually get player sales right then we should be able to spend £200m a summer to rebuild and that should be an interesting project for him.
