SJR isn't fucking about. He wants to build a team football minded people that will come in actually change things and he is doing it as quick as possible.... this could be a sign of intent for the summer.

I started getting this strange feeling…
I think it might be optimism but it’s hard to be sure…

Worth remembering that before SJR came on-board we filled these positions with Ed and his Bristol university cronies, old boys, yes men like Murtough and despite spending over a billion on players over the last decade never even bothered to get a transfer chief.
So not hard to imagine there will be a massive difference once we have a modern footballing structure with people above the manager who are experienced and competent and qualified for the job. Erik also seems OK working under this kind of structure as he did so at Ajax with Van Der Sar CEO and Overmars a footballing director cum transfer chief.
Just annoying SJR didn't take over a lot sooner before FFP became an annoying constraint. But we have enough dead wood to generate funds from and hopefully we will do a better job at player sales now we have some proper football people on board.

Ashworth comes with a massive, proven history of work. Based on what I've been reading, he has ambitions on the pitch and he works tirelessly to make them a reality. Snagging him and Berrada just goes to show that no matter how shit the atmosphere has been around this club - absolutely fucking nobody defines allure like we do. It's astonishing to me tbh, but we are still the "holy grail" of English football. About 4-5 years after SAF retired, when we’ve pretty much become at best a top 4 club and at worst a mid table club, seeing how much media focus we still get made it clear to me that it will take A LOT for us to not remain THE football club of English football.

Od say 1 or 2 tbh. The rot started 4 years before when we lost Ronaldo and Tevez and replaced them with inferior players plus bringing Scholes out of retirement rather than buying a quality midfielder(Fergie should have walked when the glazers trousered the Ronaldo money). loads of family businesses go to the wall when the clueless kids take over from the founder and if Utd was just a normal everyday company without brand loyalty we’d have suffered the same fate.

How much we’re still on tv says it all. Sponsors of the league will be rubbing their hands together at the thought of us becoming a well-run club again.

Definitely city won(bought)a treble and nobody really give a toss and it was totally forgotten about a few days later. Some rich kid bragging about his new Ferrari that daddy has bought him is very boring.

i was not on board with SJR / Ineos as it felt like they were getting into bed with the parasites but it feels completely different. also news that they want another 25-30% in the near future
they are well and truly building something special from the top down. could the qatari's have organised a better board ? who knows..

i've read somewhere (cant remember if it was a reliable source) that he could only start his work officially in 2 years if we refuse to pay the 20m? not sure how valid that is

It was going to come to this. Saudis don’t need money nor do they care about his paltry salary over 2 years. It’s a pride thing now and when it comes to pride they’re about as flexible as an anvil. Will take top tier negotiating to bring down that price.
