They made adjustments to their Boards and senior appointments so that control was in different hands. I don't know if this would be straightforward for Utd and Nice.

The City Football Group own 12 clubs ranging from 100% to 20% including 47% in Girona that will most likely be in the CL with Man City next year, but apparently that's not a issue....

These appointments aren't going especially smoothly, are they?

These appointments aren't going especially smoothly, are they? It will take time because SJR won’t just be mugged off like Woodward was.

I mean, trying to extricate very senior staff from existing contracts is almost always protracted. Particularly if there’s a tiny pool of talent that is currently emplyed by a rival. For me the positive thing is we’re actually trying to get proficient football people into footballing postions, rather than more accountants who went to Bristol Uni with Ed Woodward.
Give it time, we don’t have to snipe at everything.

These appointments aren't going especially smoothly, are they? Yes, these people are highly valued by their current organizations and they don't want to let them go easy. I actually feel pretty good about that. Shows we're after the right people.

Here’s the thing for me…
Assuming that Ashworth for example wants to come to us and work but he is on garden(ing?) leave, with all the communication technology available it’s surely naive to think that he isn’t actually working for us on the quiet…
Who monitors his activities and how?
Doesn’t make any sense to me…

There were always going to be issues with INEOS having to wait until January to get on board. That is on the Glazers for their ridiculous takeover process. INEOS have done a pretty good job lining up competent football people such as Berra and Ashworth. No idea how good Wilcox is but he cannot be any worse than Fletcher who he is presumably replacing and Southampton have a pretty decent setup so he can bring some ideas from them.
I cannot see SJR panic buying or compromising on quality and going for our 5th or 6th choice in a position. And I would rather we have a quiet summer and build additional spending power for future windows than overpay on more mediocre players (heaven knows we have enough of them).
Player sales is an area where there is no need to wait. It is quite obvious we need to get rid of Sancho. We need to find a buyer for Greenwood and there will be plenty of demand. Eriksen is upset at his lack of playing time and will have plenty of suitors.
But on the plus side we will be able to cast a much wider net than players Erik has either coached or are being pushed by his agent. And with the Euros this summer I imagine a number of potential targets will wait until after the competition before deciding on their future. So there should still be plenty of fish in the sea even if we do end up having to wait until August to do our business because of delays in the arrival of Ashworth and a possible managerial change after the Euros.

Article in Daily Mail saying rival clubs are getting upset at the aggressive way we are poaching their staff. Good sign that we are going about things the right way.

Yeah. Good to see us throwing our muscle around the way a big club should. Over the last decade we've been acting as a charity overpaying for players no one else wants and providing jobs for old boys.

When I read this yesterday I thought, will there really be a lot of demand for Greenwood? Then this morning I read the article on the Athletic about Dani Alves being out of prison and partying until 5am a few weeks after being convicted of rape. I think on that basis, we can expect a bidding war from La Liga for Greenwood.

Spain is light years behind England when it comes to that kind of thing. He's been fantastic for Getafe and Spanish clubs are hard up so won't be able to resist being able to buy someone with his talent for only £30-£40m or so. He has 1 year left on his contract and the stigma from his arrest. And in Spain they see no problem with saying that he has been cleared of all charges and therefore there is no issue which was ironically the position we were about to take before the huge backlash. There might also be some interest from Italy although this might be more difficult because their footballing association took a stand a few years back against violence against women.
Main issue in trying to get a big transfer fee for him though is that Spanish clubs and Italian clubs don't have much money to spend, he only has a year left on his contract, and English clubs won't touch him. Still we should get £30-£40m for him (although there is a rumour that Getafe will get 25% of any transfer fee).

Italy I’m aware of, but I found the Dani Alves thing really shocking. You’d think Greenwood for the price you’re talking about would be an absolute can’t-miss for a team like Barca who have no scruples.
