Good riddance. Hopefully this will motivate INEOS to cough up whatever it takes to get Newcastle to release Ashworth so he can get on board and start planning our summer recruitment.

It’s good to see the incompetent shite being purged from the club by SJR.
He just needs to get his hand in his pocket and rid us of the glazers over the next few years.

Gardening leave is a fact of life and surely INEOS realize that paying £20m compensation to get Ashworth is money well spent if it ensures we do not make a mess of this summer's transfer window?
My fear is that they press ahead and let Wilcox and Erik (or whoever the manager is) drive recruitment this summer and we have another nightmare of a transfer window. Or SJR and Brailsford get involved and push us to buy British.
Ashworth is far from perfect but he at least has experience from Brighton and Newcastle of overseeing a sensible recruitment plan. We desperately need that experience

Even though on gardening leave surely they can all still speak to each other, you know, phones and all that!

It’s pretty much impossible to do… Yeah i mean, if he's sat at home on his own personal laptop and phone etc, what can they do, he's surely in communication with Brailsford and now Wilcox, he just can't be physically at the club or training ground?

It isn't that simple when the aggrieved employer is vengeful. Newcastle could seek an injunction to stop him from working, threaten Utd with litigation and seek disclosures of information that would reveal what he had been doing.
One person spilling the beans to Newcastle could enough to facilitate this sort of drama.
