What INEOS do not seem to understand is that if we start our next 3 games with Casemiro in defensive midfield our midfield will get overrun and the price of all our defensive midfield targets will increase rather than decrease! And if we refuse those prices to prove a point then we'll finish midtable next season. And then good luck trying to attract good players to the club next summer. So you want to continue to pay the United Tax? I understand your point but that kind of dealing is what got us here in the first place…

We can act as clever as we want in the market all we like. Teams know how desperate we are for midfielders. They're not going to budge on prices unless they're coming to the ends of their contracts, to which our targets aren't.
We're just going to have to pay up until we're able to offload more of the shite that aren't leaving.

There is a huge difference between overpaying £20-£30m or more for mediocre players and overpaying by no more than £10m for good players and especially when you are dealing with big clubs who do not need to sell to balance the books.
We were absolutely correct to walk away from the Branthwaite deal. But is £50m for Ugarte really that unreasonable? PSG paid the exact same price last summer. So I do not think we are really overpaying. It is just a difference in opinion over the price.
De Ligt I can understand the reluctance because he is on high wages and won't be first choice if Yoro fulfils his promise. But Ugarte would walk into our team and strengthen our biggest problem area.

Yet we are absolutely trash and have won two cups in that time, I'd certainly rather be our club over that shower of fucking shite. Without a doubt. Just find it mental the difference between the 2. Surely it'll backfire on them eventually. Oh certainly mate, no chance they get away with this in the long term.

Chelsea now have 52 senior players, spent nearly 1.5bn in 4 windows and haven't won any silverware for 3 years. Yet there's us struggling to buy 1 midfielder because we need to offload first. Must be a loophole in the rules about playing in blue. idk how they are able escape FFP

Looks like the AWB deal is pretty darn near to being complete Fantastic, now we can go and get Mazraoui. A RB that has missed 73 games over the last 3 seasons. Someone to keep Shaw company in the treatment room I suppose.

Reports saying AWB felt entitled to a £7m loyalty bonus that we were trying to get West Ham to pay (and they of course said that was an agreement between us and AWB so nothing to do with them). So no idea how that all got resolved but I imagine it cuts into the proceeds so we will have to eat into what little remains of our budget to sign Mazrouia. Talk of us trying to resurrect the Branthwaite deal as well.
It would be a pretty typical Manchester United transfer window if we signed 3 defenders and a forward and then ran out of money and either signed Amrabat on a loan deal or signed Rabiot with the accompanying huge wages and limited shelf life.
No idea why we don't just sign the ex Atletico guy Hermoso. Available on a free and only wants about £100k a week which we can easily afford. He can play at CB and LB. Can then spend whatever is left on the best midfielder we can afford. Dalot, Lindelof and Yoro can all play at RB. Shaw, Hermoso and Amass can all play at LB. Yoro, Martinez, Hermoso, Maguire, Lindelof, Evans and Shaw and even Casemiro can play at CB.
Maybe we'd be a bit short on strength in depth and occasionally have to field a fairly makeshift defence. But we cannot afford not to fix midfield. And AWB looks like the only likely further outgoing so I'd rather take the cash and reinvest in midfield rather than spending £15-£20m on Mazrouia who's not got the best injury record and isn't that good.

Is Plettenberg reliable?
He says we will definitely have de Ligt and Mazroui by the end of the month…
Still need a DM though…
I have a horrible feeling it’s going to be Amrabat…

Always liked Neto. Think he’ll do well at a bigger club.
