Never been a fan of Rabiot despite all his success. One of the most uninspiring players but would be an upgrade on McTominay and the corpse of Casemiro.

We’re done. Hopefully it works out. Still need another CB though unless there is a youngster in mind. Love. Love. Love.

Apparently we want him before we go on tour, so this could progress rapidly, if we get him in early that would be brilliant from the club.

Is this Yoro lad instead of or as well as De Ligt?
We’ve done well so far. Not seeing us linked with a full back though, which I think is a worry. I’ve seen nothing of Yoro (not even YouTube compilations), so at the risk of being thick, any danger he can cover at fullback? Adjust to the league that way maybe?

I'd love Ugarte and Rabiot on a free 3 years! I guarantee you won't get bullied in midfield or pressed. If the money for Ugarte is reasonable, you can still look for a ball playing holding mid like Zubimendi or Wharton or someone like that next season. We need an experienced central mid squad player and a top DM now or it will be just like last season or worse!
We are letting go Eriksen and Amrabat and Casemiro is done! If Hojlund steps up again and Zirkzee plays that Martial role, you don't need McTominay!
We clearly have better people running recruitment and know what we need, so I can't believe they won't address midfield this year!

Strengthening the core of the team is a good starting point and I think we are right to prioritize those positions.
Next summer I imagine we will then address the winger and full back situation.
Rome wasn't built in a day and under FFP neither will be the new-look INEOS team.
But I think that if we land Ugarte this will be a 8/10 summer and if we have another 8/10 summer next year then we will be in the title race in the 2025/2026 season especially if Yoro, Mainoo, Garnacho and Hojlund progress the way I expect them to do and we have a few other youngsters breaking through to add to our squad depth.

That's been my thought over the past couple days while they have been wrapping up Yoro. Ideally we get both and this massively strengthens our defense for years to come, but my guess they will need to ship Maguire or Lindilof out before we are able to. Ugarte and Rabiot swoop would be another massive pick up, but like our defense Casemiro and McTominey would need to leave

So hopefully we've told De Ligt that we're still in for him, we want him. just gotta fuck off Harry or Victor first.

Sam Tighe a sports journalist has some great comments re Yoro:
“As young centre-backs go, Leny Yoro is fantastic. He has pretty much every tool in the locker. At 18-years-of-age we have to temper expectations a little bit. But he’s got the skills, the range, the long legs for tackling, he’s good in the air and on the ball. He looks brilliant and he’s well worth buying into for the potential. “Manchester United have cut the queue – and paid a fair amount to do so – but if there is a talent worth doing that for, Leny Yoro qualifies. “On paper, Yoro and Lisandro Martinez as a left and right foot centre-back partnership is something that excites. It’s athletic, aggressive, it has enough height with Yoro – it works!”

Real, Liverpool etc want him : Generational talent.
We 'overpay' for him : Never rated him, too young, let's wait and see, never really got the hype

Worth noting that this is how the club have confirmed the move.

Ideal scenario is he absolutely rips that league apart, and OM hold PSG to ransom for Mbappe levels of cash

“Yoro is a throwback defender in some respects, due to his tendency to operate as the last man in Lille’s defence.
While he stays deeper, Yoro is agile and reads danger well, akin to Liverpool’s centre-back and captain Virgil van Dijk.
Given his age and the areas he typically occupies on the pitch, it is not surprising that Yoro tends to err on the side of caution with both his passing and ball carrying.
The advantage he brings is that he has the qualities needed to step into the starting XI but can also be developed for a season before becoming a full-time first-choice.”
