Europa League ain't nothing. We've been pathetic in Europe the last few seasons so need the practice to improve and especially in the knock out phases you do get some good teams. It is a backdoor route into the Champions League. And it is a chance to give some game time to squad players so they are fresh for the 2nd half of the season when the games come fast and furious. And it is another cup to win and it will be many years before we are good enough to win the title so cups are all we really have to play for. And under FFP the matchday revenues and prize money will also boost our spending power in future seasons.
Main issue is that our squad is paper thin and fixture congestion raises the risk of injuries. And I'd rather we focus on quality rather than quantity when it comes to new additions this summer.
But if our new recruitment team wants to prove themselves with the money left over after our priority signings (centre back, defensive midfielder, backup striker) we can do a few loan signings, free transfers and get some cheap promising kids and blood them in the competition.
It isn't really Manchester United to say "yippee no European football that will increase our chances of making top 4". We've played European football almost every season since Fergie left and still made top 4 plenty of times.

We’ve also left about 3 Europa leagues behind so it’s about bloody time we won the thing again.

Will never turn my nose up at the Europa. Look how great we feel tonight. Why not have more opportunities to do that?

Just need a bit more quality and depth. Especially in midfield.

If we change the boss, we are back to square one I think we need to let the dust settle and then actually look at it. It’s a great win today and another trophy but knockout tournaments are a different beast. Dortmund in the champions lg final despite a poor season, Atlanta won on Thursday despite Bayern’s amazing season and Coventry a mid table championship side were a penalty shootout away from beating us and playing today. I personally think it’s really hard to look past some of his signings, tactics this season in key moments and of course our worst leauge campaign in over 3 decades.

I think to be in 3 finals and winning 2 of them in his first 2 seasons here is a super achievement with this team and the structure behind him.
Everyone keeps saying dud signings but the only one I think that fits that bill is Anthony which wouldnt have been such a big deal if United got him earlier for 1/3 the price.
Onana had a blinder today, everyone again will point to the goal he let in but he made some crazy saves. Mount and Amrabat have been injured most of the season so jury's out. Amrabat was excellent today, he is not a United quality but he ran his socks off.
He brought in youth with Mainoo and Garnacho to build a team around with Amad and Hojlund.
He beat Pep in a final (He has won all his finals bar 1 which he lost to Mourinho), with no recognised striker, no recognised left back, an center back pairing who has only played less than double figures this season and a 36 year old Evans
Some says he doesnt have a clue what he is doing

Hmm who out of the names that have been mentioned would have beaten Pep's City with the team out there today? We completely out played them, they didnt have a shot on target until 30mins or so.
Read my previous post about signings... I think we are being too critical. He has had no support with recruitment.

The kind of level headed approach that I hope is applied. It's been a great day, it's been very very nice. But, there are some serious questions that need answering about this season. On a personal level I like ETH and genuinely wanted/want him to succeed but some of what we have seen this season has been absolute garbage. Injuries have not helped one bit but that is no excuse for being wide open and looking pathetic against the likes of Brentford. Giving Antony chance after chance is a crime in itself but at the same time I like the fact that ETH has made the players aware that there are standards to be adhered to and if not then you can get lost. Should he or his agent have as much sway on transfer dealings? absolutely not! Is he ready to relinquish that power? I think he would if it keeps him in the job. Whatever the outcome, after today I don't envy INEOS.

Some says he doesnt have a clue what he is doing I think everyone has gotten caught up in the result without looking at the wider picture. Some of the players we've been without have bucked us, especially at the back. Can see the difference when they come back into the side. He's been here 2 seasons. 1st was decent, 2nd was poor. Think it's unfair to completely judge him off that one poor season. If we keep doing that we'll never progress. We need to stick with a manager during that bad patch instead of pressing the refresh button everytime it gets tough. It's happened too many times now and hasn't worked.

I guess my larger point was that it’s a cup final anything can happen. He got it spot on today but it’s a different animal from leading an entire successful campaign. I also don’t think we are being too critical on his signings. Antony and Rasmus were on the bench today and his handpicked keeper cost us another goal. Genuinely not being negative as I’m buzzing but i think we need to avoid knee jerk stuff either way.

This Coventry where unlucky with a very tight VAR decision from knocking us out(they deserved to be in the final after their fight back). Good win today so I’m not slating ETH while we celebrate the cup win but let the club and fanbase clear their heads and decide the best way to go forward in a week or so.
