You have to admire ten Hag’s defiance in light of the shithole brigade which is the English media. He didn’t back down and I love the fact he answered that he would win trophies elsewhere if he wasn’t brought back. Whatever you think of him, he took us to 3 finals and delivered 2 trophies and a famous win against city in a relatively barren decade.

Hmm who out of the names that have been mentioned would have beaten Pep's City with the team out there today? We completely out played them, they didnt have a shot on target until 30mins or so.
Read my previous post about signings... I think we are being too critical. He has had no support with recruitment.
I guess my larger point was that it’s a cup final anything can happen. He got it spot on today but it’s a different animal from leading an entire successful campaign. I also don’t think we are being too critical on his signings. Antony and Rasmus were on the bench today and his handpicked keeper cost us another goal. Genuinely not being negative as I’m buzzing but i think we need to avoid knee jerk stuff either way. Lets forget the saves he made? He together with the defense today were solid
Remember De Gea let 2 soft ones in last seasons final
Anthony, yes I agree
Rasmus, well he has been our impact sub last 3 games, he is still young. 16 goals is a good return

Nobody who supports this club should turn their noses up at European football. This club is steeped in the blood of it originals, despite the status quo back home.
If you don’t it, fuck off. Quite frankly.

He makes decent saves every game but he’s also good to let a goal in almost every other game. He’s genuinely cost us multiple points in the league and got us knocked out of Europe. I’m fine with Rasmus but he’s been shocking for us.

I think we need to let the dust settle and then actually look at it.
It’s a great win today and another trophy but knockout tournaments are a different beast. Dortmund in the champions lg final despite a poor season, Atlanta won on Thursday despite Bayern’s amazing season and Coventry a mid table championship side were a penalty shootout away from beating us and playing today.
I personally think it’s really hard to look past some of his signings, tactics this season in key moments and of course our worst leauge campaign in over 3 decades. This Coventry where unlucky with a very tight VAR decision from knocking us out(they deserved to be in the final after their fight back). Good win today so I’m not slating ETH while we celebrate the cup win but let the club and fanbase clear their heads and decide the best way to go forward in a week or so. Honestly mate, people keep going on about cov but they were fuckin lucky themselves to take it to extra time in the first place, huge deflection and dodgy pen

It is a hard one.
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the domestic cups Erik has won. He's won more domestic cups for us than Jose and LVG. That is quite an achievement. And that is more domestic cups than any other manager over the last 2 seasons even though City, Arsenal and Liverpool have better teams and haven't suffered anywhere near as much with injuries as we have this year. And as we are 3-5 years away from challenging for the title having a manager who can keep us relevant by winning cup competitions isn't to be sniffed at.
The biggest mark against Erik this season in my book is that there are been precious few good team performances. This was obviously one of them. Results have been far better than performances this season and while that is a testament to Erik's ability to get results while playing badly because he is a winner it indicates a problem and explains a lot of our inconsistency this season.
But when you are a manager who likes to play from the back and believes in transition football it makes a big difference when injuries prevent you from playing a settled backline and our only technically proficient centre backs spent half the season injured. And Casemiro's decline has also affected the team performances as he was our heartbeat last season and we've struggled to control midfield this season and then our attack hasn't really gelled because Rashford is unhappy and distracted, Garnacho is too unpredictable, and Hojlund doesn't know whether to try and link up play or wait for players to find his runs and has been starved of service all season.
As for why we can only seem to play as a team when it is a FA Cup final that is a difficult question to answer but it probably says a lot more about the players than the managers. I don't think that Erik only just discovered the ability to put together a detailed effective game plan. I suspect we've had them all season. But it falls on the players to execute the game plan and play for the team rather than being selfish or lazy.

Can I also add what a fucking plastic joke of a club city are. Players didn’t look fussed at all about losing. Never heard the city fans all game.
You can’t buy history or class. Hopefully the punishment fits the crime and pep fucks off next year. Then they are another Chelsea.

With ETH as manager. If we change the boss, we are back to square one Some people wont agree and I might get gunfire here but I'd be open to giving him another season or at least a few months and give him a chance to turn it around. We do this everytime. We've had a really bad season in the league and the CL campaign was shocking. 14 losses and a negative goal difference. Do you really believe that he's going to take us to another level? You reply doesn't convince me.

I’ll also add the post match was a disgrace. Nearly 0 questions about the game. Just hounded the man.
We wonder why our national team play like they have bricks in their shoulders… media here are fucking vampires

Couldn't handle staying up just to see the inevitable embarrassing performance and result. Also didn't just want to go straight to the BBC and see the headline "City humiliate awful United". So I woke up and just went straight to page 1 on here. Thought at least that way I'm reading real time updates from fellow reds. Thanks to you all, with each passing page I was thinking "We're winning? We're fucking winning! And playing well?!"
Fuck yes! Brilliant. I don't follow football like I used to but days like this really bring out the buzz again.
You beauties!!

You reply doesn't convince me. If I'm honest, as it stands I think he's better than this season has shown. That's enough for me for now. Nobody can deny its been a poor season overall and winning the FA Cup isn't the reason I think we should preservere. It's the first summer where we'll have a proper structure to work under aswell. Just needs to be a good summer to replace and add players. Address the injury issue aswell and see how a fit squad gets on. I'm fed up going round in circles and binning every manager when we all say the same thing when a new ones comes in. "They need time". 2 years isn't enough with how this club is run and the shit he's had to contend with. However he also needs to improve in his own areas aswell.
