I agree, this isn't a overnight fix. We already look miles better not giving away 20 shots a match but there are still things better players will need to be brought on to fix. This year will tell us if ETH is the guy for the job and if some of these players who've been around for a while are up to the task(Rashford specifically) Rashford should have been sold. Yeah there's no chance anyone is paying the PR guru anywhere near 350k a week. Hopefully PSG or the Saudis are stupid enough to just to get him gone but I dont see it. At this point the valuation doesn't even bother me. Same goes for Sancho. Half arsing it all the way to the bank. Just get rid now, any means necessary.

Rashford should have been sold. that’s going to be difficult due to that stupid fuckwit Arnold giving him top dollar 5 year contract on the back of a 2 month purple patch. thank fuck those day are gone but that’s why I think it’s a 3 year job to sort it out. The likes of Mct,shaw and rashford should have been binned off years ago. Should have sold him after his purple patch season

i dont think they've been great tbh. the goal came from poor defending and getting caught out. their forwards are clinical though unlike ours theres spaces to attack but brentford just dont have the pace &/or arent committing enough when they do. understandably though as they'd be open to the counter. Maybe not swashbuckling stuff but in control, never looked in trouble and won the game comfortably, we’d have struggled like fuck Thought brentford should have scored 2 from set pieces

Remarkable stat -
Stoppage time winners allowed in PL history before ten Hag - 2.
Stoppage time winners allowed since ten Hag - 6.
Utter bottlejob, which is obvious looking at his substitutions.

Remarkable stat - Stoppage time winners allowed in PL history before ten Hag - 2. Stoppage time winners allowed since ten Hag - 6. Utter bottlejob, which is obvious looking at his substitutions. Had a chance to cool down and reflect. He definitely screwed it up with subs this week but let's not forget against Fulham the subs worked out.
Now that my anger has subsided I was looking at the positives of the game. I dont believe we are as bad as last season. Brighton barely had a shot at goal in the first half and we had the ball in their half a majority of the time. Our problem is not capitalising when we are on top. There were numerous chances to go ahead, Case had two free headers at set plays. The problem for ETH is that he has setup now too defensively with Mount, who seems to be eager enough to press but offers nothing going forward and takes the place of a proper no.9.
Taking Mount off of course we are better going forward but then leave so much space in behind which is what happened in the 2nd half. We totally lost control in midfield 2nd half. Hopefully Ugarte will provide that energy without us having to sacrifice a proper no.9.
The only difference in the game was the mistakes in defense costs us badly and the bloody unlucky offside, it would have been a different game if that goal wasnt taken away! Maguire is at best a squad player and needs benching. Hopefully De Ligt is now a started after this game. Erik doesnt have the best record of bringing new players in quickly. Apart from Casemiro in his first season, he always took his time to get the new players bedded, I think there is no time for that now.
We need to improve, and improve fast otherwise I think its game over for ETH. It is a results game after all. We need to win against scouse and win comfortably like we did in the FA Cup against City.

Man I'd take a win. Winning comfortably is unlikely at Anfield. How many times did we ever win comfortably against them in recent times?

They need to cut their losses on Mount. A bizarre signing all round.

I dont care if we win 1-0, just needs to shut out Liverpool just like we did City in the FA Cup

He has his uses, his pressures per game is the highest in the PL at the moment and he didnt finish both games.
But he offers nothing beyond that!

Worked out? We won by a solitary goal. Hardly the definition of working out. Besides, the team that finished the games has always, by any logical rationale, supposed to be the one that started the games. Our problems are many. And most of them the exact same from last season - which is what angers me beyond anything, that he hasn't really fixed any of the organizational, strategic or substitution oriented fuckups. Mazraoui started game 1, why not de Ligt? Mount started game 1, why game 2? Why make defensive subs in both games? Are we bottom dwellers? He removed Bruno in the 2nd game while we're chasing a win. This mentality is the problem. He's exactly the same, with a bunch of new players.

I am not sure if we are watching the same games. Last season we conceded 20+ shots a game home and away. Fulham had 10 with 2 on target, Brighton had 11 with 4 on target. Last season against Wolves, 26 Shots with 6 on target, 22 and 6 on target for Spurs the next game. We are much more solid. The same problems are up front which is not scoring. There were some good passages of play but no end product
I think with Mazraoui he had no choice with there being no recognised LB. The rest I am not so sure but I am assuming those defensive subs are to get De Ligt up to speed, I am 100% sure he is a starter in our next game.
There are mistakes sure, but reflecting we are a better side so far this season compared to last season even with just 1 change in the squad from last season (Mazraoui) and sometimes 2 with Zirkzee coming on. Once the rest of the new guys are brought in, it should be better, it has to.
