It’s a matter of time now. There is no turning this around.

I agree with you and he's at fault for a lot of what's going on. What he isn't at fault for though is allowing a centreback to run through you without the effort to put in a tackle. He isn't to blame for not being to string a simple pass together. Some of the passing yesterday was atrocious and would genuinely see better at grass roots level. He needs to go, no questions asked but these players aren't avoidance of blame either. I agree but he's still picking them. The players don't fear him or being dropped. Also there all on big money and thats a huge problem. Ten Hag looks menacing but in reality he's really not. Danny Murphy was asked last night on MOTD if he was a motivator or tactician. Took him a while to answer but you could see he wanted to say neither. Definitely he's at fault for that. But at this point I don't think it matters who plays. That side yesterday was our strongest and you can excuse a few but the simple miss placed passes were beyond a joke. That's all on the player.

Makes sense to wait until the international break to make the decision. I am sure the next two games against Porto and Aston Villa will add to the overwhelming weight of evidence that Erik needs to go. Although Porto lost to Bodo/Glimt last week so we might be able to get a result against them. But lose at Aston Villa and we'd have 7 points from 7 games and be in the bottom half of the table and you'd expect INEOS to pull the trigger then. Although Erik does seem to have an annoying knack of avoiding the death spiral that usually condemns managers and getting results when he most needs them so I can see him getting a win and a draw out of the next 2 games and hanging on a little longer.
But I think at this point the decision is pretty clear. This is his 3rd year and he has completely failed to stamp his identity over the team. We lack organization. We lack any defining style of play. We lack any kind of personality as a team. Either he is incapable of clearly communicating what he wants or is overloading the players with tactical instructions or just lacks the authority to get them to follow them. But it isn't working.
I don't think he is a good fit. We need someone who is good at man management and has a clear vision he is able to communicate to the players and has the strength to implement that vision and get rid of any players that do not buy into it.
And I would rather have a caretaker manager for the rest of the season such as Ruud or Ole. At least they'd get us back to basics and keep things simple and be willing to try something different.

There’s an air of the last days of Jose, when he pulled a result out of the fire (was it Newcastle? Spurs?) which merely delayed the inevitable. We’ll probably spawn something out of Villa but then go to shit again in November. Which will mean the end, finally.

Yeah I think he will hang on a few more months. What will really accelerate things is if the players properly down tools and give up. Once they do that we won't get the comebacks that have been a fairly common feature of Erik's regime and prevented the death spiral. But I think even if he doesn't lose the dressing room we will continue to languish around mid-table and eventually INEOS will decide they've seen enough.
This season is a write off anyway. Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea will finish top 4 and even if Manchester City get a huge points deduction it will be Aston Villa or Tottenham who will probably benefit. And might be no bad thing to fail to qualify for Europe so whichever permanent manager we hire next summer will be able to spend a lot of time on the training ground and focus on the league.

If he has 2 a match buffer like the reports I'm seeing, He has 2 very tough matches because Porto and AV aren't push over squads. Anything other than 2 wins or 1 win one draw should be met with his walking papers.... the writing is on the wall. Players look clueless on the pitch, we can't score to save our lives, he looks clueless in his tactics, players aren't playing for him at all, and this season is on the verge of being unsavable.
Even the most patient supporters in and on socials have turned... me being one of them.

3 years in and unfortunately its clear to see that it hasnt worked out with ETH. and there is no way he can turn this around, bar the occasional win in between. thing is, the season is not lost yet. we`re only a couple of games into the league, still in the cup competitions. i think the board need to act quick now. i am not expecting to challenge for the league title. but a new manager bounce could bring us quickly back into contention for top 4 and keep us further into the cups.
the club and the fans have been very patient with ETH and i was fine with that. i was so sick of another manager, and another one and another one. was willing to give him time. but there is just no progress at all, we`re rather regressing. waiting until december/january to sack him might be too late by then. whoever comes in will have a hell of a job to get something out of this season. but act now and we give ourselves the chance to get back into it.

I feel like Ole had a win against Spurs with Cavani and Ronaldo up top which saved him for about a fortnight.

Such a shame it’s come to this with Erik. I really thought he could be successful here, but it’s clear it’s not working and we must make a change while the season is still young. More than anything for me, the fact that three seasons in and we still have no style of play is what really gets me.
I have no idea if RVN is the person who should take over until the end of the season, or if there’s anyone good available who we could reach out to (Zidane?), but it’s better to make a change now.

If they're looking at the international break to make moves then I really dont understand why they can't do it now. We can't afford to be dropping more points in Europe this early and Villa away is where you need that new manager bounce back because that's another game we can't afford to be losing.
Just get it done now and start from square one again.

I met a pal last night who I’d not seen in ages. He supports Liverpool but he’s not a maniac, you can have a decent conversation about football with him. He said he’d honestly never seen anything like our midfield in the game at OT recently, couldn’t believe how disjointed it was, how a simple bit of football was all that was needed and you were straight through at our defence. He also said, and this was the bit I thought was actually truly revealing, it’s not good for English football for Utd to be this bad for so long, that it diminishes the game. Rumor is, players aren’t sure what he’s asking of them. Normally I’d hold for further evidence but the proof is in the pudding. He’s fucking clueless. And he can’t get the players to fall behind him. It’s an unmitigated disaster, each passing game. It’s looking more and more like a case of here is the new king, same as the old.
My eyes are not sure if ETH knows what hes asking of himself.
