From Sky Sports:
"Manchester United have been the dominant force in The Premier League since it started, no question about that.
"Eight championships is a phenomenal record and something we want to maintain and get back into the winning circle again.
"Chelsea dropped two points at home and you look back at all the teams that have won the championship and that's exceptional.
"We did lose at home to Blackburn and we drew five games so we have to make sure this is a place where we get points. That's the starting point."
Reflecting on the disappointing season, despite a Carling Cup win, Ferguson rued a number of injuries that scuppered his start to the season.
"The start of the season was a nightmare," Ferguson added.
"It stops your momentum and therefore that consistency you need early season to get a run and get confidence in the camp is denied us.
"This season started with Louis Saha getting injured in training, and that was him out until November.
"Quinton Fortune was injured in a training session a week before the season started and he was out for the season, but we handled that and started August very well.
"Then Roy (Keane) got his metatarsal injury and Gaby Heinze got his knee injury, Gary Neville missed the start of the season with his groin, so there you've got five players, half a team, missing before the end of September."

It annoys me to think that, had we of not drawn against Sunderland, been beaten by Blackburn and drawn against or been beat by Middlesbrough, we’d have won the Premiership, a point ahead of Chelsea, wouldn’t we? Or have my calculations gone wrong somewhere.
Role on next season, eh.

So much depends on who he brings in in central midfield.. i know it can't get much worse but it does have to get much better. It will do that with Scholesy back but whoever we sign must adapt well, we've had so many center mids who've failed. I look forward to seeing D.Jones competing for the first team too, he's well capable. Having Heinze back will make a big impact too and Ronaldo and Rooney are getting vastly better season by season. I for one don't care that Chelsea signed Ballack, the more they sign the more they will unsettle others and eventually get injuries apart from just Bridge They've had practically no important injuries the last 2 seasons and their luck will go soon, especially with some of their ageing players.

I feel to compete with chelsea we need a defensive midfielder(diarra) plus an attacking midfielder(riquelme, kaka) of the highest order. But i also believe we need a top striker(owen) and a winger of high class(Joaquin) Your right about rooney and ronaldo in experience and improvement..I think ronaldo has a bit to go yet though.. I dont think paul scholes will be back..And if he is he'll be a shadow of himslef..We cant afford that..

We also don't need too many changes in one season. 3-4 changes is just too many considering they'd be replacing big players. I'd say bring in two center mids, keep Ruud for at least one more season and we have enough on the wings with Giggsy available out there again.
Its too much of a risk bringing in so many foreign players in one season to replace big names, at least one of them will F**k up.

I cannot see Ruud staying after he threw his toys out of the pram. I see him being used as part of a swap-deal. With whom remains to be seen.
I think 3 'quality' signings would be sufficient assuming Ruud goes. He will need to be replaced. Torres looks a likely candidate.

Amen to that, Chel$ki have had no real Injuries, look at ourselves and Arsenal big injuries over the last two seasons: Keane, Scholes, Neville, Rooney, Van Nistelrooy x2, Fletcher (hahahahaha kidding), Saha, Heinze, Wes Brown. All these been out for extended periods of time over the last season or two compreably that would be chelsea losing: Lampard, Makelele, Paulo Ferriera, Joe Cole, Drgoba, Lassana Diarra, Crespo, Terry and Ricardo Carvalho. Do you think they'd have walked off with the premiership had they had those injuries cos I don't! No no no no no! Owen's game is about his pace and he's lost that, he's not big enough to use his head much, not strong enough to play on his own up front, and he is now getting crocked more often, Owen has lost half a yard and is way past his best in my opinion.

If you think We have lost all that and Chelsea have lost one guy compared to our 8 or so, we have done very well to get 2nd and win a cup, imagine a season where we don't get any key players injured like Chelsea..

No way..Owen would get 30-35 goals for us....No doubt....He was virtually injury free with madrid and was unlucky to break his foot in fairness..Rooney has done the same twice??

30 to 35 goals? Isn’t that pushing the boat out a little? I presume you mean in all competitions and not just the league.

Oh no no, Michael Owen (alot like Jermain Defoe) is one of those magical pixie strikers who is the worlds best with little or no evidence rectently who can score 1000 times in the average season if they play for a big team...

Same old talk, yet to see it in action. Blah blah what we've won in the past, injuries blah blah as though nobody else suffers from them or that we didn't have opportunites to rectify.
Every game we dropped points in last season, probably the two previous as well though memory evades me, the players and staff came out and told us that they know what has to be done, fighting talk etc and then put in a limp performance.

I think the issue is Mox that yes, all teams do suffer injuries...... but Chelsea havent. Consider the central midfield losses we've had this season.... if Chelsea played half a season without Lampard and Makelele, where would they be? Let alone without injuries to their strikers and defenders as well.
We werent good enough at the start, but Chelsea werent good enough at the end. There was only 8 points difference, when we had a shit load of injuries and they had none. If the injury list was the other way around next season, then we could be 8 points clear too!
