i think ruud should stay for about another 3 years which i think he wants aswell lets face it we could win the premiership without him but no way could we win champs league hes saves his performances for the those games and his goals are vital something like 44 in 62 games including psv find me a better goals to game ratio? you cant!! p.s i used to love that keane tackle and think it was great but as i get older i have to say it sickens me that although hes my idol and i love him he stooped that low it was horrendous even though it was city that was really really bad

44 in 62 is quite simply astounding....but the way I see it is that the team simply isnt designed to let him be the only one too score goals now, Rooney makes the team share the goals and that dosent totally suite Ruuds game...

He's better than Sheva and he is in the same age range. Yet he is constantly under-rated while the likes of Shevchenko, Henry & Raul get spoke of higher on a European level. Henry in my eyes is over-rated massively and Raul has lost what he had. Ruud & Sheva are the top 2 strikers in the world, and if Van was to leave United it'd be heartbreaking and disastrous on our team.

i agree, Andriy and Rudd are similiar in lots of ways, yet Rudd get a price tag of only 10m by SAF and Andriy get sold for more than 30m. whats wrong with Alex? but the good news is, now Sir Alex has put a price tag of 20m on Van Nistelrooy but i still think that is too low

To judge just how good Ruud was/is I thought a few of you may be interested in this fact.
In the season 1967/8 Best scored 28 goals in the league, at that time there were 42 games played. Since that date only
McClair 1987/8 Yorke 99/00 and RvN 01/02 02/03 03/04 05/06
Have scored 20 or more goals in a season, that's pretty impressive Ruud!!!

No, not at all. International tournaments don't always reflect a players true abilities. Many players have looked better/worse than they really are in the world cup / euro championships.
But anyway, I reckon Ruud will be one of this years top players in the WC.

It depends if we get a good enough offer for him really. I don't want to see him leave but if we get a good offer for a 30 year old who can't run with the ball at all now I say sell him. He is the best predator in the premiership if not the world at the moment but hes on the back end of his career so if we can move him on for some good money then its not a bad thing.

well, as with most people i hope he stays...doesnt look as if he will, which is a shame
i agree with crilly (for once, lol) i mean look at karol porborsky...he had a great euro 96, we signed him, and io think it is fair to say he didt quite live up to expectations...same could go to jordi cruyff

For a player his legs are what keeps his relatively short career going and it seems trivial to jeopardize that just out of frustration or anger...they run enough risk of injury just with regular game play. As for Ruud, I think he should stay...he's a prolific goal scorer who as others have said, has a few more years left in him. I think he'll do fine next season if the midflelders we get provide better service, and with Saha back it gives us the option of switching Ruud with him when we need a playmaker up front.

I think Ruud should stay, simply because there is not a single available striker out there that we know can replace him. He scores goals, which is his job, although he sometimes lacks the ability to work as a team player. He's never going to be my favourite player, but he gets the job done, and that's what matters.
As for the supposed love spat with Ronaldo. They're both adults, and they'll get over it. You'll never find a football team where every single player is best mates with everyone on the team, it'd be inhuman to expect that. And anyone who has ever played football, even just for fun in the park, knows the situation can get heated and you can end up saying harsh things to someone who might really be your best mate. The players jobs are to defend, score goals, win matches. Not to brade each others hair and exchange make up tips.
