I'd like to see Smith, Heinzé, Brown, O'Shea, Fletcher, Kuzsczak & Silvestre start for United, just so the team have a core of first team squad players, which should then give the youngsters something to feed off and help them win the game. As we saw versus Crewe these sort of games will not be easy although I think we'll learn from our mistakes and cruise through.

Didn't most of those players play against Copenhagen? They were awful. I'd rather play a full eserve side but maybe with Heinze and Silvestre in it.

As long as O'Shea and Fletcher don't both start i'm happy, a good game for Smith to prove he can take Ole's place whilst he's out, hope he starts!

That's the exact thing I'm on about when people just can't stop giving Fletcher unwarranted stick. He has been great this season for us, and if he starts you'd expect as usual he'd work his socks off for the team. GET OFF HIS BACK FFS! |

People have different opinions Adam, and some of us don't think Fletcher is good enough to start. He has not been great, although he had one very good match against Liverpool. He's made less mistakes, but that's to be expected, he is one year older. He is a squad player, not the messiah. Should be a comfortable win against Southend, hopefully. They've played some good matches this season though, so hopefully we will send a team with at least some experience, I'd expect a few first team players to start, Carrick, Ron and Rooney maybe, after coming off early at the weekend. |

Fletcher and Richardson have been great cover when Scholeys was banned and Giggs was unfit/injured etc, for me Silvestre and Heinze are the only players im uneasy about... Heinze hasn't found his feet since being injured, and theres been something wrong with Silvestre for the past year or so...
So i think the stick against Fletcher is unjustified.

I hope we've learned our lesson from the match against Crewe and the players who are involved go and play like they want to win it. Richardson's attitude in that match was unacceptable so if we do put in some of the youngsters we need them to come out and give 100%

Yeah, Richardson got ahead of himself. Confidence is good, but being over confident is destructable as we saw. But i thought up till that night he had a good run of performances.

He had a good performance against Liverpool through hard work, against Copenhagen he showed why he and O'Shea would have struggled to get in last seasons Sunderland side, he was invisible  Now if he becomes more consistant, then fine, he deserves chances. Would like to see Fletcher more central every so often as well, he gets stuck in, runs up and down 24/7. As for O'Shea, he's wasteful, backs out of tackles and is deployed as a defensive midfielder. Having said that i think he's had some brilliant games at left back, he's not afraid to get stuck in at the back. |
