Towards the end of last season RvN missed that penalty against already relegated Sunderland, and that effectively ended our title challenge to Chelski. RvN was dropped after that, and sold at the end of the season. I always thought that was the last straw as far as SAF was concerned. If we don't qualify for the next stage, I'd hate to see Saha put through the same, but he should realize that he needs to get his act together and not miss absolute sitters. The stupidest thing a striker can do is to stop playing the ball cos he THINKS that he'll be called offside... atleast get the ball in the net or play it properly. The flag will come up if its offside... That just pissed me off... And the worst part is that I really like Saha, he's very important to our scheme of things.

As one of those Man U supporters that lives in the SOUTH of England, I'm glad we lost!!! The Benfica game, for which I got a ticket, should now be competitive. On a serious note however; what was Saha thinking when one-on-one with the keeper? I could sense as the game went on that it wasn't going to be our night. The dodgy free kick and penalty miss summed it all up really. Onwards and upwards. Bring on the chavs on Sunday. Hopefully, both Saha and Ronaldo will have their scoring boots on. BTW What's the best way to get from Didsbury to OT (taxi, horse and cart, mine shaft etc)?

horribly disappointing. we should have had this group wrapped up with at least 4 wins by now. disastrous final balls all night long. ronaldo can run down the wing as much as he wants but if his final balls suck, then there's no point. i dont understand why rooney was played out left. its been proven before this season, that that's NOT his best position. why try to fix something that isnt broken? ref was a real genius as usual...if that was a free kick, then i'm gisele bundchen. fair play to nakamura tho, his free kicks are sublime and i had an inkling when he stepped up that it was going in. ronaldo keeps kicking his free kicks at the wall, its getting a tad annoying but he's been our best player this season so i wont complain too much. saha was nowhere to be found last night.bad penalty and bad finishing all night long. i'm really gutted that we dint win this one. judging from the first half, we should have steamrolled them. hope the boys can pick themselves up for chelsea and benfica.

Obvious that Jarosik was a former Chelski player, he must have attended some of their diving training sessions! It ain't over and we will avoid defeat to Benfica at Old Trafford. Beating Chelski on the weekend will heal any wounds still felt from the game last night!

I CANNOT believe we lost. The ref was a disgrace all night long. Did anyone see when Rooney got absolutely nailed by Sno (I think) and then got up and fouled their player and he got the free kick given against him. WTF? Saha was fouled all night long as well and never got anything. And then there's the free kick. Not too displeased with the players though coz we played some good football and by rights should've raped them. I feel sorry for Saha but he ought to improve his finishing really.

Could be a blessing in disguise and wake up the team before Chelsea, make them work harder etc. as it had to happen sometime. At least our fate is still in our own hands, that's not a bad thing at all especially when at Old Trafford on a European night. Personally i find more comfort in being pesemistic after losing for at least a day or so I think it's wearing off now. If we lose against Chelsea though.. I just hope this makes Fergie see what we need in January, whether it's using the loan players or strengthening by signings.

Don't players get carded if they play the ball after the ref blows the whistle The whistle wasn't blown if I remember correctly. He knew he was offside and was anticipating the whistle which is why he stopped.

attackers should always keep playing the ball, particularly in clear goal scoring oppurtunities! If it were offside and saha would have scored he would have gotten carded i think

So I'd think its fair to assume he didn't want to get carded for playing the ball.

Please don't say Scholes dived...did you see the tackle by Baldé on him?...potential leg breaker there.

Giggs did not dive, he's not that kind of player and I think most can vouch for that. The ref didn't do the best job but the match wasn't lost on just bad officiating as we didn't score in spite of having the advantage of possession and the penalty. Fair play to Celtic, they scored a great free kick but let's not get carried away with all the "who is Man United" talk. Had it been a match where Celtic was dominant then I would agree they were the better side that evening, but with the way things went it was our game to lose and that's what we did.
