Would you all prefer we topped the group or came second, baring in mind the teams we could face in the last 16? I prefer that we top the group, it will be better than coming in second and facing any of the other group winners.

If we win the group, our most likely opponents will be one of the following Porto, AEK Athens, Real Madrid, Roma, PSV, Barcelona, or Inter Milan. We all know it will be either Real or Barca! Therefore, finishing 2nd wouldn't too bad. That only leaves Bin Dippers, Chelski, The Arse, AC Milan, Lyon, Valencia, or Bayern Munich. No worries.

little doubt i my mind we'll get a very lame draw, probably against one of the top teams. Then again anyone who came second came second for a reason. I'd just be happy with qualifying.

Too true mate. Beating the Sardine Munchers is the main priority.
Should be a good atmosphere on Wednesday.

No matter if we come first or second, we're still gonna get drawn with a strong team. The easiest would be AEK Athens if we were to finish the group on top. But i'd like to be drawn with Real Madrid actually, Play against the likes of Ruud and Beckham, The would be great, and recently its been the case that United do better against bigger clubs. Gotta play Benfica yet though! Knocking us out last season #hmm# Ohh how i'd love to see their faces when/if we do it to them

even if we finish top or second, second round opponents will all be difficult (some more than others). if we qualify, i just hope we catch a break this time. our draws in the last few seasons have been appalling.

Even if it is Real...I know we can take 'em. It'll be Vidic's European coming out party....the Thee R's will be scattered accross two pitches! (all respect to what Ruud has done for us in the past of course!)

Flanagan's is accross the street from my office. I take an hour for lunch....come back at halftime, make the rounds and steal away at about the 60 minute mark to catch the home stretch.

'No nerves ahead of Benfica showdown' - Rio
Rio Ferdinand has dismissed any chance of nerves affecting Manchester United in their do-or-die Champions League tussle with Benfica tomorrow.
For the second season running, United face the Portuguese giants knowing defeat will send them tumbling out of the competition at the group stage.
Twelve months ago they suffered the ultimate humiliation - piling the pressure on under-fire boss Sir Alex Ferguson with a limp capitulation in Lisbon.
This time, the fear of failure is not quite as great given the Red Devils have home advantage and are generally in top form after opening up a six-point lead over Chelsea at the top of the Barclays Premiership.
Nevertheless, following unexpected defeats to FC Copenhagen and Celtic, United are one wrong move from disaster.
Even so, Ferdinand insists there is no way his team-mates will allow any anxiety to creep into their game.
'The situation doesn't breed nervousness in our dressing room,' he said.
'This squad doesn't get nervous.
'We thrive on situations when the pressure is really up there and full on.
'The big games - when people are asking questions about us or think we won't do well - we seem to come through it. This is an opportunity to do that again.'
After collecting a maximum nine points from their opening three games, United should have wrapped up a place in the last 16 long before now.
Against Copenhagen the Red Devils dominated for long periods, while the Battle of Britain contest was embarrassingly one-sided for almost the entire 90 minutes.
Yet on each occasion, Ferguson's team conceded a late goal, leaving Ferdinand, at Celtic in particular, feeling very strange.
'Sitting in the changing rooms after the Celtic match was one of the weirdest feelings ever,' said the England defender.
'There were so many emotions. We were angry, upset and almost baffled in a way - because we controlled the whole game.
'They didn't look like scoring at all. But they get a free-kick, and it was a great one.
'If we had finished off a couple of the chances we had we would have been all right - but we didn't.
'In the Champions League, you must kill games off when you are on top - because the other teams always have that quality and ability to put the ball in the back of the net.
