Oh God I'm getting comforted by all my Arsenal fan mates. Is there a worse indignity? Still my mates coming down from manchester 2nite so I'm gonna get fucked and have a good time yay. Yeah, its finding out that your Liverpool "mates" would seem to prefer Chelsea to win the league rather than us after all.

I'm gutted about the defeat more because of the manner rather than the defeat itself, after Chelsea's defeat I always knew a defeat here wouldn't hurt that bad.
The referee made some stinking decisions against both sides admittedly but more towards United I feel which was upsetting and spoilt the game.
I always feared the introduction of Robin Van Persie, I've not made it unknown the respect I have for him as a player and I knew he'd score I had that shit feeling in my stomach.
It's also not surprising to see everyone blasting Ronaldo for diving when he didn't, he grabbed his face at one point when he shouldn't have but as for diving there was none. And, then Henry swan dives in the box and not much is made about it. How he got Sky Sport's man of the match is beyond me apart from scoring he did fuck all and was in Rio's back pocket.
The man of the match for me was Patrice Evra.
United had a game plan and we stuck to it well until Van Persie's goal, the defeat is a setback but I'm still confident we'll get our trophy back.
The game swung on the introduction of Van Persie and the exit of Ronaldo, imo.

Ferguson drew further consolation from the performance of Michael Carrick, who he felt was the best player on the pitch by some distance.
"I thought we had the best player on the pitch in Michael Carrick," he concluded. "He was magnificent
thats fergie trying to deflect criticism from him, best on the pitch hes joking

Evra was man of the match but at 1-1, I thought to myself what are the positives from this game and Rooney scoring and Carrick's performance were the things that popped to mind so I think he doesn't deserve criticism for tonight, he played well.

If chelsea would have won and we would have won we would still be 6 pts clear and in the same situation and frankly i do not see Liverpool and Arsenal gaining any more ground on us. So let's learn from this game and take out our frustrations on Watford in 10 days time.

I quite worried about our ability in the big games this season, so far we have 4 points from a possible 12 and 3 of those came from a Liverpool side that didn't even turn up that day. We struggle to impose ourselves on the better teams and we don't even seem to have confidence in our own ability against them, today was an opportunity to go out and play our natural game knowing the Chelsea result had gone our way but instead we set up to stop Arsenal rather than let them worry about us.
We were also crying out for a Hargreaves style player today, someone who would just go in and clear the ball and pressure them, it really annoyed me how much we stood off them today, we were asking for trouble. We've let a massive opportunity slip through our grasp and if we don't improve against the top teams our 6 point lead is going to shrink pretty damn fast.
On a positive note I hope Rooney takes confidence from his goal and we see him get back to what we know he's capable of because we're really going to need all our players firing if we're going to win the title now.

Van Persie breaks metatarsal bone Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has broken the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot, the club have announced. He sustained the "partial fracture" scoring the equaliser in the Gunners' 2-1 win over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. Van Persie had an X-ray immediately after the game which confirmed the full extent of his injury. It is likely the Dutchman, who had come on as a second-half substitute, will be out of action for at least six weeks. that makes me feel a bit better!

I haven't got a lot of negative thoughts towards the way we played today. For the majority of the game it was 50-50. I think we were unlucky in the way we conceded their second goal. Had Scholes or whoever it was not slipped, maybe they wouldn't have had a chance on goal. It's a big shame. Disappointing. It would have been nice to be seven, or nine points clear but like Danishred says, had Chelsea and us won our games, we would still be six points clear. Let's not be down in the dumps about it, no-one died. Our next game is at home to Watford which we should certainly win. Chelsea have a possible difficult game against Blackburn on the same night. It will take a brave man to say Chelsea lose against Blackburn, I would like to see it, it is possible. Everyone knows Chelsea's problems at the moment and they could well find it frustrating against Blackburn's style of play. I have faith in Mark Hughes and his team to snatch at least two points from that game.
Going back to today, what was wrong with Park? Surprised he wasn't on the bench. Had he been available I'm sure Fergie would have brought him on at the same time as Saha.

How terribly deflating today's result was and I feel no consolation from the fact we're still six points clear. I'm not throwing in our chances of maintaining our lead but I agree with every point in your assessment Redom, it's exactly what I felt while I was watching. Adebayor was chasing the ball every moment he got, keeping the back line constantly on their toes but we didn't do the same. A real shame we couldn't keep the lead as it was a great cross from Evra and a brilliant header by Rooney. Something will have to change if we face Arsenal in the FA Cup because thus far we haven't been able to get a result in our encounters with them. We need to really take it to the other big teams and play with confidence and purpose.

I shouldn't be writing.... I should less my anger pass after our pub was on the edge of a punchfest. But I have to clear my soul to go on: SAF is to blame for this loss. Before the game they all twaddled about how they're out for a win and how United isn't afraid of anything. And then SAF fields his best players in such a waste of a formation, clearly out for nothing but a clean sheet. - How could you expect a 35 year old bloke to play the lone wolf up front? I think Larsson did well with the 3 or 4 ball's he touched in this game.
- Giggs only got possession when he went out wide! We need a new good left wing as cover for Giggs so SAF can let ol' Giggsy run up and down the left wing as long as his able to, then take him off. He really had his best games this season in his position!
- Rooney did well but he is still a waste in MF and wide. And as long as he has two work for 3 men he's not going to score consistently! I think Ronaldo played good. It was hard for him because of the fullbacks pace but he's hardly given a ball away.
- Carrick and Scholes are passers of the ball but a single striker's path is easy to cover for the defenders so they didn't have options and were out of the offense-game
- Evra had a very strong first hour, probably the best I've seen so far. But after an hour his defense work became sloppy with bad tackles bad positioning and uncontrolled movements. I almost started prying for Ferguson to take him off and bring in Heinze for more defensive stability. And why did he lay down with Scholsey already on the ground and two Arsenal players standing before the first goal? The cross for the second one came from the left, too.
- The subs were either wrong or mistimed! How can you take off header-monster Larsson just ahead of a corner? And why take off our best counter-attacker when under pressure?
My upshot: Every time we had the feeling we won or lost without getting in full gear we played out of position. I think this is the most critical time in this campaign. We now have to take a point outta the Bridge or Liverpool and we can't afford a single slip up. I hope Fergie can rally his men after this hit in the neck. Even if he didn't do anything right in the game, he started well into next week by analyzing that we gained one more goal in our battle with Chelsea. P.s. the French really are cunts!

Ive just realised thats the first time we've ever lost a game that rooney has scored in It had to happen some time, hopefully it will be the last time and that Rooney starts to score alot more often than he has done so far this season so we never lose as he would have scored

I thought we played quite well today. I don't like seeing Rooney on the wing, although I thought he was good today. Carrick was OK, but he wasn't the best player on the pitch. As for playing Larsson up front on his own, that is crazy. Still, we're still top the league, but I feel robbed!
