Adam's XIKuszczak
Brown - Ferdinand - Vidic - Heinzé
Ronaldo - Carrick - Park - Richardson
Saha - Larsson Prediction: 3-1 UNITED; Saha, Ronaldo and Larsson. United to continue charge at Treble with comfortable victory. I wont put in Richardson or Carrick to start with. I am comfortable with rest of the line up. I just hope that we don't underestimate them too much. I would hate to end up going out of the Cup at this stage. I was thinking the same thing! We have a tendency to underestimate weaker teams and it has cost us in the past. I would like Fergie to put in a strong sound side. I'd hate to loose at this stage. 2-0 United.

Why would you not put Carrick in raisnhell? He missed the last game so he should be fine for this game.

Coppell said theyre playing a weakened team...
"I will make seven or eight changes from my last team, definitely, and I make no apologies for saying once again that we play a cup final every week in the Premiership.
"It doesn't matter to me who the opposition are - if anything I will learn more against this sort of opposition. I want to know whether the (fringe) players can cope with the level and perform at the level.
"It is not any disrespect to the competition or the opposition. I am being selfish - I am just looking at it from my point of view.
"Reading fans understand 100 per cent my thought processes. I care about the integrity of the competition very much but from June I knew that this was what I was going to do and I'm not going to change that.
"I'm not disrespecting the competition because I have been consistent. And it is nothing to do with trying to protect those who played in the last league game, no way.
"It would be disrespectful of me among the playing squad if I were to change now. I never made them any promises - I can do what I like - but I just decided that this was what I was going to do and it doesn't diminish our desire to try to win the game.
"I would do exactly the same before the semi-final and the final - although I think I would wake up (from the dream) some time before then."

Smith to step out of shadows
A year ago this weekend, Alan Smith suffered a horrific injury that has limited him to just two first-team starts since.
As a second-half substitute against Liverpool in the FA Cup on 18 February at Anfield, Smith blocked a shot from John Arne Riise, which broke his leg and dislocated his ankle. The 26-year-old striker hasn’t played for the Reds since getting a 60-minute run-out in the defeat to Southend in the Carling Cup at the start of November.
Smith has been on an intensive fitness programme to get his fitness levels back up. Described as “terrific” in training, Sir Alex Ferguson would have no qualms about throwing the striker back into action against Reading on Saturday – but says the Yorkshireman may just have to be a bit more patient in getting back into the team.
“I could play him against Reading no problem," said Sir Alex. "But the difficulty of course is the form of the team and that I have so many players playing so well. I’m trying to be fair to everyone, but it is hard. All I can say is that he is improving all the time, he has been terrific in training.
“I’m thinking that when Henrik Larsson goes back to Helsingborg in March, Alan could become a very important player to us. I think he sees that himself, and hopefully that is the case.
“It's just a matter of getting his timing and his confidence back again,” added the boss. “He's coming along fine. He's been in the squad over the last few weeks but the team is picking itself at the moment and when everyone is fit it's difficult even to pick the subs.”

Sir Alex also said there will be 2 or 3 changes including the changes enforced by Van Der Sar's injury and Rooney's suspension

Why would you not put Carrick in raisnhell? He missed the last game so he should be fine for this game. Its nothing against Carrick...I just wanna see a strong side...not taking any chances...its the FA Cup and personally I wanna see us atleast in the finals...I wanna win every step with a score that will make non United fans hate us more for our ability to thrash the opposition. 1-0 not good...3-0/4-0 good. Reading is a good side and has a good manager. Just like everyone else here, I just dont wanna see us out because of this game...I am just wanna play safer.

I agree with Tom here, Carrick is our first team choice, and if we are going to play Richardson or Park, we will do so on the left, and so Giggs should be rested, not Carrick. Reading is not going to be a walk over, we need as strong a team as possible, and we have missed Carrick when he's not been in the middle, especially since the new year.

Yeah, Carrick is a first eleven player. He's one of our best four midfielders without a doubt and has been a great influence on our play this term, I don't agree with some of his critics.
